These are just some simple steps that can be taken to prevent these mass slaughters. Look at recent shootings and the guns were purchased legally,, and used within days of purchase. That's the real problem you have here. Law Abiders are the only ones who will be inclined to obey this draconian gun control, but they aren't the ones who need to be controlled.

But such draconian laws will frustrate Law Abiders who might decide they can't afford to go through the expense and bother of all of this. The result will be a less well prepared group of law abiders and a lot more crime and shootings.

If someone is a Law Abider in Chicago, example given, and they are walking around unarmed- they are basically screwed. Some thug approached them with a firearm to shoot them, they don't stand a chance. Even robberies will be fatal in Chicago. Some thug comes up to you with a gun, all you can really do is try and grab it and hope for the best. I don't think just telling the robber to "go copulate himself" is likely to turn out that well.

Let's start by enacting a law at states that any firearm or weapon in the civilian sector which the government deems belongs only in the purview of the military remains in only in the purview of the military. Meaning that if a civilian can't own it privately then neither can law enforcement, private companies or agencies, security agencies, the secret service, etc, etc, etc,...

Additionally all expenses for licensing, training, or any other hoop that local, state, or federal government wants to enact is picked up by the government because the right of the people to bear arms shall not be infringed. In other words keep your poll taxes off of my rights.

There are any number of gun dealers who operate out of the back rooms of the nation's bars, taverns and cocktail lounges or out of the trunks of their cars. And those fellows don't ask for ID or do background checks- except maybe to make sure their customers aren't wired or in law enforcement.
