It was not a call that was made that was wrong. It was a call that was NOT made that was wrong.

A distinction without a difference.

Not really, since some calls can be challenged, but non-calls can't.

True, but some calls can be overruled by other officials when they don't see the infraction, or what was called was not the fraction. Why when other officials see an infraction can they not create a situation when the video proves an infraction occurred? Shouldn't uniformity be required.

For the last ten years or so officials have changed the outcome of games too often. Anyone who played the game knows how frustrating calls like the one yesterday have on the player.

Is this blatant enough?

I posted a video from you tube, why is a big red X displayed?
This the video?

The Saints will be spared the Cheatriots trouncing and be able to hold their heads up and the lambs won't.

They could find play-nullifying penalties on every reviewed play. That they only focus replay on the ball is a reflection of the lack of intellect among pro football fans. The fact that NFL has supplanted baseball as the more popular spectator sport is a reflection on the general dumbing down of the culture.

There's a petition going around that has drawn 200,000 signatures for a rematch. They should have a rematch. They could sell a lot of tickets, make a lot of money and everybody wins.

And make sure a call by an official can be challenged and reveresed when video evidence proves the decision was wrong.

Had the Saints the opportunity to challenge a call which everyone in the stadium and watching on TV saw was wrong, such a new rule will prevent an atrocity which millions watched yesterdAY
Yes,absolutely.

The NFL ratings now are through the roof. Those who believe otherwise are anti capitalists.

The solution is simple.

They need a centralized head official overseeing all of the games. Any time there's a big questionable call or no-call, that person has the authority to override the officials on the field. The officials on the field don't have the luxury of all of the angles that our cameras have.

Soccer just recently had a big change in officiating with VAR. Similarly, it's time for NFL officiating to evolve.

You obviously know nothing about football or the NFL.

Football's just a kid's game, and sometimes referees get the calls wrong. Personally, I think the leagues need to go back to just going with the referee's judgment and not bother reviewing the calls. That system worked well for many many decades. The current system of booth reviews and going over instant replays doesn't resolve arguments at all as this weekend proved.

Nah. The refs can be expected to make one fairly egregious miscall per game. It's just part of football. Always has been.

Not just football, errors are made in refereeing every sport.

I remember when Terry Funk got disqualified and suspended for life plus 20 years for putting a plastic bag over Ric Flair's head.

They reviewed the rule book, found there were no prohibitions in the rules against using a plastic bag so they change the ruling to "no contest" and ordered a rematch in a steel cage.

Things happen, refs are fallible human beings, they make mistakes. That's why pencils have erasers

No. PI is to subjective. Although I agree the miss call was pretty darn obvious. Subjecting PI to review just opens up a whole new can of worms. No doubt it was a horrible missed call, but the game was still tied at the moment and New Orleans eventually took the lead. It wasn't the final play that lead to them losing.

So 600,000 people don't know what they're doing by signing the petition?

From Change.Org Petition to Boycott Bowl: Saints Fans Continue to Protest Rams Win in NFC Championship Game

A Change.org petition that seeks a rematch of the game this Sunday has garnered nearly 600,000 signatures as of Tuesday morning.

Yea, it would be unorthodox, but I'm sure would become a popular move by the NFL and become an exciting history for a long time to come.

The Los Angeles fans couldn't complain too much since the game was all but stolen. Do you have a specific reason why they can't have a rematch?

With only one time out left for Los Angeles, the Saints would have easily run out the clock and kicked a field goal to win. There would have only been about 15 to 20 seconds left when the Rams got the ball back.

Saints season ticket holders suing the NFL over missed PI call

Technically, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has the power to set back time, giving the Saints first and goal at the spot of the foul, put 1:49 back on the game clock, and let the game proceed, with the score tied, 20-20, with the Rams having one time out left.

Also, the Saints could have run the ball in from the 5-yard line for a TD and a sure win.
