Should people have to perform/provide services for gay weddings?

My mob rule referendums?

This is the same guy that supports states writing laws that force people to go to weddings, and then denies that he supports making slaves of people.

Tell you what, I really don't have time to pull up every post where you throw individual liberty under the bus, so I will just pull up one example to prove that you are lying.

You are a fucking liar and a bad one at that.
I oppose forcing anyone to go to weddings.
I support the right of the church in this case to get rid of anyone they want to as a member. If this church wants to deny gays outright I fully support that.
They would not be Christian church but fine with me.
How many laws out there that now prohibit you from denying a black or anyone else to buy your house if it is for sale?
How many laws out there that prohibit you from firing older workers, not hiring blacks, handicapped, gays, midgets, blue eyed people, people that are bald, etc.
Called equal protection under the law.
Same with renting buildings and anything and everything else where dollars are exchanged.
Lester Maddox ring a bell?
YOU selectively want to EXCLUDE gay folks from all those laws as bakers, florists and others that are IN PRIVATE business have to abide by all the other laws so they now have to abide include gay folks in those laws.
If you sell wedding cakes to the public there is sound footing that you must also sell it to EVERYONE.

No one should be forced to be party to perversion

How about if folks thought you were perverted because you fucked women dog style?
Would that make you perverted?

So some people are claiming moral outrage as cover for their hatred, suspicion, fear and bigotry. Moral outrage. As if their morals were so immaculate, so pure, so righteous that discrimination is not only acceptable but justified.

These people have no 'moral compass' or at least no moral compass with the cardinal points of justice, tolerance, truth and brotherhood. The kernel of Christianity is do unto others as you would have others do unto you. But somewhere, somehow their moral compass has been misaligned so that the cardinal points have become reversed. Justice becomes resentment. Tolerance becomes hatred. Truth becomes suspicion. And brotherhood becomes fear and ignorance.

Such 'morality' has no place at the table as same sex couples finally get the recognition and respect they deserve as human beings, adults, taxpaying American citizens. Such 'morality' belongs on the ash-pile of idiocy where bigots and fear-mongers inevitably go to rot.

I love how homosexuals in particular claim Christians are bigots, but don't mind tearing someone down at the drop of a hat, if they don't agree with/cooperate with their ideals.

Most Christians aren't bigots...

Just the ones who pick one verse out of the Old Testament to justify their bigotry, while ignoring all the others.

I mean, if you aren't going to stone your neighbors for working on Sunday, you really need to stop whining about the ghey....

If you offer a service, you provide it. Simple as that.

The Christian bakers don't have ANYTHING on their webpage to suggest that they don't provide service to homosexuals. If you don't provide service to gay couples, state this on your website. Otherwise, stop complaining.

On Face the Nation this morning Bob Schieffer was surprised to hear that people such as bakers and photographers are facing fines and possibly jail time for not providing their services to gay weddings. Whatever you feel about whether people should be forced to facilitate something they are religiously opposed to, it says a lot about the media coverage that Schieffer didn't even know about it.

Do you feel people who are religiously opposed to gay marriage should have to cater to gay weddings?

Obama said he won't make churches perform gay weddings. So, if we believe him, that one little corner of culture might not be forced to change. But everything else is fair game, isn't it.

Public schools will be actively attempting to make children view gay marriage as normal. Adoption agencies will be penalized for not arranging for children to be placed with gay couples. And bakers could lose thousands of dollars or go to jail if they refuse to put two plastic men on top of a wedding cake.

the real question you should ask yourself, should a business be force to do business with Black people marring white people ???? I think that puts your post into a better perspective on what the law says .... my answer would be yes ... I mead if you were a business person and some gay couple came to you with a 2 million dollar budget to marry them would you say NO ... ABSOLUTELY NOT ... or would your moral values come into play ???? in my opinion they would say yes I will ... wheres as a couple who would pay a couple of thousand dollars, your types would say nooooooo !!!!!!! it offends my moral turpitude

I tend to think that if someone comes into your place of business, you have an obligation to offer the service to them. Like if a black person wanted his knee examined by one of our doctors, we would assign her/him a doctor and the examination would take place. I couldn't anyone saying the black should be refused healthcare.

In the case of wedding photographers/caterers/clergy etc... it's a bit different. If you sign a contract to provide service then wish to break the contract after you find out they are homosexual, interracial, etc...you deserved to get sued and you deserve to lose. Caveat empor (they are spending their time).

If you take a meeting and you find out that Jill and Jane are getting married and you say "I don't do gay weddings, get out of my studio", I think you have every right to bow out before you obligate yourself. If you're the only photographer in a five zillion mile radius...too bad. Jill and Jane will have to do without photography done by you.

What will happen is that the only photographer in a five zillion mile radius will just stop being a wedding photographer. The photographer might do wedding photography for friends or relatives, but no longer offers such services to the general public. Now Jill and Jane will either go without, have wedding photographs taken by cell phone, or go beyond he five zillion mile radius.

No, it is their business. I would move my business to another state.

Gay is an obscene choice not the same as race. The business owner has the right to refuse service to anyone, PERIOD!!

Gay is immoral.

Gay is immoral.

No it isn't.

Businesses should be able to serve who they want. We also have the ability to call them out if they decide they don't want to serve groups of people. If their business suffers because of this, so be it.

Yes it is.

I feel that however one views skin color, the most obvious thing is that they were always that color and as such it is a gift from God.
Homosexual behavior is not the thing seen in babies. The facts are that "limp wristed" men have gotten married and have made wonderful husbands, providers, and fathers... And there are "he man" athletes who have turned out to be real homosexual perverts.

This said, I see a very big difference between encouraging people to accept a person of race and one with a sexual ego. My feeling is that perversion should not be encouraged and that people and businesses should be left to sort out their own religious concerns without fear of some know-it-all liberal insisting that there is no room for morality unless it agrees with governmental "values."
