Shocker: Americans Want to Choose Their Own Health Care

it won't ever go back to the way it was before the ACA, so you know not what you wish for...imo....the insurance rates will go even higher and you'll have less coverage....and more employers will drop any kind of decent insurance policies, just to save money even more so than now and more employers will drop insurance as a benefit....

Old women will be driven down crossing the street, acid rain will fill the air, the earth will boil, the first born in every home will perish, there will be a nuclear war, the earth will be overrun by orangutangs and stinging ants. Did I forget anything?

Just picked up an article about the upcoming SCOTUS challenge to subsidies.

If they shoot those down.....Obamacare is toast.

The problem is that we will be wore off than ever before.

Why the American people are so stupid as to let the corrupt and incompetent government control their health care is beyond comprehension.

Why there are people in this country that are soo fvcking greedy as to demand that other people pay for their health care is also beyond comprehension.

Yes,

We'll be toasted by cosmic radiation and die from drinking to much coke.

I'm not going to stop hitting my hand with a hammer because then I will be worse off...

It's a pathetic response to a real problem.

I blame the GOP more than I do the dems...they should have never let the conversation get this far.

There are people out there who can't get the health insurance they need. That needed to be addressed.

We are screwing up the best system in the world to fix a very lmited (but real) issue.

Agreed....but the GOP had better be ready to handle the resulting mess.

Otherwise, you can say hello to single payer.

I'm not sure what you're basing that on. Obamacare provides crappy insurance at high prices. Ending Obamacare wouldn't terminate people's policies, it would just allow them to make other choices. Also, this has been such a disaster, how would even Democrats sell this time that the problem was there wasn't enough government?

Even if if we just make all insurance tax deductible, allow cross State competition and make policies portable so people aren't locked to their employer's policy, things would go from awful to far better. I'm not sure what this catastrophe you are worried about is. Removing government control has no history of increasing problems.

I agree those fixes would be useful.

The GOP should be driving those now. I don't see it.

My point was that Obama and Co. would go hell bent for "The sky is falling" like they did when they got Obamacare passed (recall people like senator Barbara Bullshit Boxer out there with the 60 million uninsured ?).

They'll work to manufacture an even worse crisis and try to use it in 2016.

If the GOP is not ready with a good response....a well thought out one including the elements you mentioned.....we could have a real problem.

Believe me...I don't want government in my health care.

I can't afford the cheapest mother scratching ACA policy.

IF I had access to a policy that had no maternity, no drug abuse, no mental health provisions... I could afford it.

There used to be a "buffet" of policies out there, but now we are all on the exact same policy.

The same thing is happening to me.I use pay $180 per month for my Horizon policy. Then November of last year I was I received a letter from them stating I was losing my policy due to the new Obamacare minimal requirements. Then in December of 2013, I was offered a policy from Horizon that I can have a similar policy for $220. per month for 2014.

Now I got kicked to Obamacare which is telling me I must purchase their minimal policy which covers maternity, juvenile dental, drug rehabilitation among other things I don't need starting at $500 per month.

I can't afford it so it looks like I have to try for medicade, which my Doctor doesn't accept. So it now looks like I'm going not going to keep my doctor.

you had a policy with what? you are comparing them. you appear to be lying through omission

He had a policy without a lot of shit he didn't want or need.

.

So you think somebody else should pay for your health insurance?

What kind of greedy person are you? Are you so unproductive that you can't pay for your own? What is the matter with you?

By the way, in America being without health insurance doesn't mean the truly needy can't get health care. Prior to Obamacare there was many programs through the US to help the needed.

All Obamacare did was establish another costly socialist entitlement to healthcare, which is despicable and is driving up the cost to the paying customers. .

mr h, do you only have 1 child at home? no other child in college under 25?

If you had 2 children, instead of 1, with the figures you gave earlier, you would qualify for $640 a month in subsidy....but nothing with 1 child....
You do realize that $640 a month subsidy will be counted as earned income at the end of the year? $7680 dollars added to your income. That will put most into another tax bracket. You do realize that?

no, the $640 a month subsidy is not added to his income....

Sorry, but you are wrong, period. The $640 he would qualify for as a subsidy is NOT counted as income.

HOWEVER, the other $600 a month that he has to pay a month for his share of the premium cost, is NOT tax deductible like it would be if he was getting his insurance through his employer....

so the money he has to pay out of his own pocket for his premium share each month is not tax deductible....but the subsidy itself is not added to his taxable income.

People may want to choose their own health care, but that's over now.

REP. MARK MEADOWS Obamacare s Christmas surprise - Washington Times

CMS will use a blindfold to pick your plan. The agency will select your plan without knowing your medical history. They will do so without knowing if you are currently undergoing treatment or working with a specific doctor. They will do so without knowing your financial status. Despite the fact that the millions of people who already enrolled chose the plan that they believed was best for them.
CMS has laid the perfect trap: Sign up at healthcare.gov one time in your life and we will never let you go. If you don’t continually re-enroll each and every year, CMS will keep you on the plan that it chooses because, after all, CMS knows what’s best and they always make the best decision. Oh, and if you don’t believe that, please go to the 600 million dollar website that will give you all kinds of testimonials handcrafted by MIT professors.

Starting Chrismas Day, your ability to choose whatever plan you want has been taken from you.
