Whether you like their politics is not the point. Both Ginsberg and Sotomayor had tried numerous cases. Trumps nominee has never tried a single case. Never tried a civil case. Never tried a criminal case. Never tried a case in federal or state courts. The last time he even took a deposition was when he was just out of law school. And even then he never did it solo.

Ginsberg argued cases before the SCOTUS, and Sotomayor was an Assistant District Attorney in New York. That shows actual experience in the courts.

They may have tried cases and show "experience", but Ginsberg doesn't believe in the constitution,as shown by several talks she has given, and Sotomayor believes laws are made from the bench, as she accidentally admitted. Perhaps someone who has never tried a case, but follows the constitution and knows the duties and restrictions of the court would be a better choice.
