Scalise, Cole introduce resolution to change rules on impeachment

Personally, I think it's time for the Republicans to DEMAND an open hearing and impeachment vote...

Let's see what kind of losing hand the Democrats have...

And watch them lose their FOURTH impeachment vote when the Democrats from the districts that voted for Trump vote AGAINST the farce in order protect their jobs!!!

First the Democrats have to investigate to prepare the articles of impeachment. The rest of the House gets involved when they have actual articles of impeachment.

That's not the way it was done with Nixon and Clinton.
They had investigative special counsel teams that investigated in private, that passed evidence they gathered over to the House Judiciary committee.

There is no DOJ special or independent counsel investigators.... this is why the separate committees are doing the investigation part, before sending their info and evidence to the Judicial Committee...

Investigations are done in private and sometimes with grand juries too. In this situation, they are having to do their own, without the outside influence of the target, or the target's lawyers or political followers...

When and if the House Judiciary Committee votes to impeach, and it is a yea wins, then the target gets his due process, and all the evidence is presented.
And the Democrats get their FOURTH failed impeachment vote in 3 years, since some of the Democrat reps don't want to be unemployed, right???
When did the House of Reps have an impeachment vote? My research indicates only attempts of having a vote brought to the floor, but those attempts failed, so no vote for impeachment has ever been conducted. Maybe you have a link showing otherwise?
The attempts failed because the HoR VOTED not to proceed (even if it was by withholding a "yea" vote)...

So the attempt at impeachment was made when it was brought to the floor..

Newflash stupid Democrats cannot exclude Republicans from the investigation. Dem's can't go off in secret and conduct a witch hunt.

/——-/ Dems do go off in private and block Republicans access. They always have whenever they are in power. (Like with Obozocare) But when Republicans are in charge democRATs demand to be part of the committees and the GOP caves every time.

That doesn't really answer my question. I understand any Rep can propose a resolution, but the House can sideline the resolution so it never reaches a vote. That is what has happened, hence, no vote for impeachment has been held.

Democrats are blowing it big time. Pelosi represents a small district of a puny 280k people she doesn't speak for the country.

House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) and Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla.) on Friday introduced a resolution that would require the committees overseeing the impeachment inquiry to allow outside members of the House to have access to the proceedings, depositions and transcribed interviews.

Its introduction comes after a group of House conservatives attempted to gain access to a closed-door impeachment hearing on Wednesday. The conservative lawmakers were rebuffed because they did not sit on the House Intelligence Committee, House Foreign Affairs Committee or the House Oversight and Reform Committee.

"The stakes are too high for Chairman [Adam] Schiff [D-Calif.] and Speaker [Nancy] Pelosi's [D-Calif.] impeachment proceedings to continue in secret. The American people's elected representatives have been denied access to relevant documents and the opportunity to attend depositions and transcribed interviews,” Scalise said in a statement.

“Chairman Schiff wants to impeach President Trump behind closed doors and clearly has no intention of conducting a fair and open process. We demand transparency. For the sake of our republic, Members of Congress must have access to proceedings with such monumental and dangerous consequences,” Scalise added.

Good. It's time for Republicans to stand up against the Dems' illegal activities regarding the impeachment.
The way this is being done, my congressman is not allowed to represent ME in those secret hearings.

She speaks for the House of Representatives. Perhaps that is why her title is "Speaker of the House". The entire House votes on who will be Speaker. Nancy Pelosi won the election for Speaker.

Good. It's time for Republicans to stand up against the Dems' illegal activities regarding the impeachment.

There is absolutely nothing illegal about it. The House decides on how to proceed. on a impeachment. There are Republicans on these committees the last time I checked. There is no reason for anyone else to be there. Fact finding is best done away from the cameras. Conservative is a joke. These are not conservatives but Trump goons.

Suburban voters disagree with you. That is why Fox's polls show majority support impeachment and removal.

You mean that poll that showed 48% DEMOCRAT participation???

It's a skewed poll, since Democrats (31% of the voters) are overrepresented by more than 50%, and it basically shows that DEMOCRATS want to impeach Trump...

Because the investigation was done by an outside special investigator. The investigation itself was not open to "both sides" (although Ken Starr leaked like a sieve). This is the investigation part that was done by Archibald Cox in Nixon's impeachment and Starr in Clintons.

It is up to the House to decide and how it was done in the past is irrelevant. Given the facts in this case, the way the Democrats are proceeding makes sense. The supposed impeachment proceedings against Clinton and the impeachment proceedings against Nixon involved domestic laws. In this case, the potential offense involves foreign countries so letting committees who deal with foreign policy and Intelligence since it may involve classified information.

Amateur-level juvenile theatrics... a sophomoric sideshow for their bumper-sticker motto-braying Sheeple.

...The conservative lawmakers were rebuffed because they did not sit on...
If you're not on the Committee you don't get to sit-in on closed-door sessions.

..."The stakes are too high... to continue in secret...
They... and you... and I... will know more about their findings, very soon now.

...The American people's elected representatives have been denied access...
Incorrect. A subset of those elected representatives already have access. More will have access very soon now.

...“Chairman Schiff wants to impeach President Trump behind closed doors..."
Incorrect. Impeachment will be a very transparent process. Intelligence gathering, however, is - and always has been - behind closed doors.

...and clearly has no intention of conducting a fair and open process...
Incorrect. Impeachment will be a very fair and open process, amongst the House at-large.

...We demand transparency...

...For the sake of our republic, Members of Congress must have access to proceedings...
They - and you - will have access to all requisite transcripts, summaries, etc., once the preliminary Inquiry is over.

...Good. It's time for Republicans to stand up...
Indeed. It is time for Republicans to reclaim their party from an amoral, arrogant, half-senile, dangerous Robber Baron.

...against the Dems' illegal activities regarding the impeachment.
Please cite the Constitutional provision or the Statute or House Rule that stipulates that an Impeachment Inquiry requires votes or open doors.

Thank you so much for admitting that this is a Democrat plot (conducted behind closed doors), instead of a legitimate impeachment process conducted by the HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES (AS DEMANDED BY THE U S CONSTITUTION)!!!

And guess what???

The American voters can see through your partisan bullshit...

The American voters can see through your partisan bullshit.

The Constitution gives the House the power to decide how to conduct impeachment. IT IS A LEGITIMATE IMPEACHMENT.

EXACTLY what this impeachment crap is... a POLITICAL vehicle to propagandize NOTHING that is impeachable, especially since we KNOW it hasn't a chance to being enacted in the Senate....Face it. The party of INFANTICIDE has NO VIABLE AGENDA OR POLICIES that would make things better in Anerica and for Americans and keeping this charade up. Is all they have.....
