I recently discovered through a friend of a friend, a scholar, that the reason many of these White Supremacist-type white people are like this is because they feel their righteousness is attacked.

Apparently, these white people have some kinda righteousness complex and whenever their righteousness is attacked, or they perceive it to be attacked, they're triggered and resort to the litany of things you listed above, like deflection, lying, etc.Everything BUT face the truth.

It was a bit jarring when I first heard it, but it really made sense.
