I’m thinking it might come down to math. Sacrifice the 130 hostages in order to save 1000 more that Hamas will kill.

Still, an initial effort to locate and rescue them should be made. It is very possible they are already dead (or subjected to such torture thst they wish they were).

Israel just has to take it to the next level. Start flattening city blocks until they give up the hostages.
