Undecided Voters say Romney Won Big - Bob Beauprez - Townhall Finance Conservative Columnists and Financial Commentary

The political world is buzzing this morning after the first Presidential Debate at the University of Denver last night. Supporters of Gov. Romney were thrilled with his performance. Those backing President Obama weren't so pleased. As MSNBC's Chris Matthews fumed, "Where was Obama tonight…What was he doing?"

The debate probably didn't change the opinion of the hard core supporters in either camp. But, the opinion of those voters still trying to figure out which candidate to support – the "undecideds" – was the crucial part of the audience both candidates were trying to reach.

***********************

This does not tranlate into votes, but it sure increases the probability of them voting for him if he stays on track.

Last night was a a big win for Romney and it already shows.

Should we declare the race over like the left does every time a new poll comes out?

That would be a huge mistake.

Romney now has some momentum and we should be pushing harder and attacking Obama more and more as well as Biden.

There is more energy.....we need to make the most of it.

The BBC had focus groups set up in each swing state. Attendees were 'undecided independent likely voters'. Results looked really good for Romney... but, he needs to stay one the offensive, he needs to do well at the next two debates.... and Ryan needs to verbally eviscerate Biden just for the craic of it.

Of course. I was just being facetious. Pound Obama into oblivion right up to the bitter end.

Joe Bitme doesn't have a prayer. That alone should help keep overall momentum going.

Does Romney's debate win make you more likely to vote for him? Maybe 1% or so? Now everyone was touting the CNN after debate "who won" poll so what about this one which shows a moderate bump? More likely is the key because they could change their likely vote along the way.

CNN poll

Currently, the votes are:
No -- 62%
Yes -- 23%
Already was -- 15%

Quote:
Romney is now viewed positively by 51 percent of voters, the first time he has enjoyed a net positive in the U.S. presidential race, the poll found. Obama's favorability rating remained unchanged at 56 percent, according to the poll.

* Obama leads Romney 48 percent to 43 percent in poll (Adds details, background)

Obama did not appear to suffer any damage. Fifty-four percent said the debate did not change their opinion of the president, while 16 percent said their opinion had improved and 18 percent said they viewed him more negatively.

From your link....moron.

A truly accurate reading on the debate's impact on the race will not be possible for several days, Young said. That is because the poll drew on a smaller pool of voters, taken over a shorter period of time, than the Reuters/Ipsos daily tracking poll that measures the prospects of each candidate.
