Romney provides example of leadership by supporting, not condemning, America

It would help you guys if you actually read the embassy's statement, instead of relying on Fox to spoon feed you. Free speech isn't being criticized. The outrageous contents of the film are. "The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims - as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions."

Read it, it's an apology. Plain and simple.

Yeah, it's an apology for people being assholes.

and Americans:

"America will not tolerate attacks against our citizens and against our embassies. We’ll defend also our constitutional rights of speech and assembly and religion.
We have confidence in our cause in America. We respect our Constitution. We stand for the principles our Constitution protects. We encourage other nations to understand and respect the principles of our Constitution, because we recognize that these principles are the ultimate source of freedom for individuals around the world."

What a shame we have to rely on a presidential CANDIDATE, instead of our actual PRESIDENT, to say the appropriate thing when we are attacked.

Mitt Romney’s statement on the Libya ambassador attack - The Washington Post

Thread of the day!

He calls political/religious discourse an ABUSE of freedom of speech, because our enemies object to it, and based on the fact that they object to it.

Yes, they certainly did, liar:

"We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others."
Press Release | Embassy of the United States

"“The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims – as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions,” it said in part.
Tuesday afternoon: The Cairo embassy stands by its original statement. “This morning’s condemnation (issued before protest began) still stands."

Reading comprehension is something you people sorely lack. That's not saying scrap free speech if it offends people (which is what "apologizing for free speech" would consist of), it's saying that some elements in our society use their rights in a way that makes them massive jerks. And guess what? That's absolutely true. If your mother walked up to a random person on the speech and called them something offensive, you would apologize for her actions. Would you be "apologizing for free speech"? No, you'd be apologizing for her being an ass.

Wrong in every important respect.

It can be an apology FOR free speech, which it is, and not be a plea to scrap free speech. Admit it, you are wrong.

An apology for free speech is a statement, by definition, would be a statement that free speech should not exist. It's not the speaker's rights that are being criticized, it's the foul content coming out of their mouth.

Can't admit it can you?

You better not utter a word the next time someone puts a cross in urine.

Wrong, there is no logic in this. Your feeble attempts at defending the indefensible are absurd as well. Do you really believe this or are you just desperately trying to avoid having to admit you are wrong?

The idea that you apologize for things you think are correct is what has no logic.

Logic, try using it.

Nothing else needs to be said. Perfect response from Romney.

I'm sure he won't let that stop him, lol.

They can never rest till they screw it up.

Romney provides an example of shameful partisan exploitation of a National tragedy.

Romney isn't leading anything. He should do the office of the president some respect and shut the fuck up about foreign policy.

Getting attacked and having our ambassadors dragged through the street like dead dogs has nothing to do with foreign policy.
Everything to do with leadership.
