and Americans:

"America will not tolerate attacks against our citizens and against our embassies. We’ll defend also our constitutional rights of speech and assembly and religion.
We have confidence in our cause in America. We respect our Constitution. We stand for the principles our Constitution protects. We encourage other nations to understand and respect the principles of our Constitution, because we recognize that these principles are the ultimate source of freedom for individuals around the world."

What a shame we have to rely on a presidential CANDIDATE, instead of our actual PRESIDENT, to say the appropriate thing when we are attacked.

Mitt Romney’s statement on the Libya ambassador attack - The Washington Post

Then obama followed Romney (as has become his habit) with his own statements, once he was shamed into it.

And then issued an apology for his apology:

"
The White House is disavowing a statement from their own Cairo embassy that apologized for anti-Muslim activity in the United States.
“The statement by Embassy Cairo was not cleared by Washington and does not reflect the views of the United States government,” a senior administration official told POLITICO…"

Senior administration official: The Cairo embassy’s statement does not reflect the view of the U.S. government; Update: Romney calls embassy statement “disgraceful” « Hot Air

Romney leading obama around by his nose is just becoming an issue. Will obama be able to stop Romney from assuming leadership now? Probably not because he doesn't even recognize that his leadership position is being shifted out from under him bit by bit.

interestingly, no one thinks that except for demented rightwingnut loons.

Nope. The majority feel that way, Jillian. You're coccooned by those of like mind in your liberal city, and have lost touch with the rest of the nation.

I'm sorry. I can't spell coccoon.

cuccoon?
cookoon?

I have no idea.

Certainly no leftwing loon thinks so. Leftwing loons think they are in the majority. The world can see obama's failure of leadership and the void being filled by someone else. Romney makes a statement then obama is shamed into making one of his own. Absolutely obama would have preferred to get on that plane to Vegas rather than having his time wasted by making a nonsense and mush mouthed statement. He couldn't. He couldn't because Romney had already addressed the nation. Romney took questions, obama wouldn't waste his precious campaign time.

The Cairo Embassy by definition speaks for the US government.

"I don’t think we ever hesitate when we see something which is a violation of our principles. We express immediately when we feel that the president and his administration have done something which is than consistent with the principles of America. Simply put, having an embassy which has been breached and has protestors on its grounds. Having violated the sovereignty of the United States. Having to embassy reiterating a statement apologizing for the right of free speech is not the right course for an administration."

Bravo, and reflects the views of the majority of Americans perfectly.

Except that the administration didn't apologize. The embassy did, before the outbreak of violence, in an attempt to prevent it.

Yes, first they apologized for free speech.

Then they apologized for apologizing for free speech..and again apologized for free speech:

The regime is out of control. Bob Woodward is right, it is a disintegrated chaos.

No need to spin. Any reasonable person is not going to have an issue with someone trying to prevent a riot.

You stop a riot by apologizing for free speech????? Your attempt at making this look good is pathetic.

That would be because the "demented rightwingnut loons" can actually read his words or listen to what he said and comprehend it.
