They likely, will not get a new trial. It is common to ask for one, but unlikely to be given one. This is Stone's lawyers second try at it.... the Judge's carefully examined and written denial, makes sense and this new asking is on the same lines as the last one the Judge denied.

Correct. A motion for new trial and/or for directed verdict is a standard post-trial step. Nothing newsworthy about the procedural aspect of this.
