Rick Scott's police state

I doubt any of the rightwingloons will be shocked at his behavior. He's pretty much becoming Mr. Big Government.

Thankfully the Republicans are also pissed off at him.

The guy is really a toad, there's just no sugarcoating it.

Remind me again how outraged you were when Obama did similar things? Or had press barred from his events because he did not like stories they ran. Or when he tried to bar Fox from the White House?

Ohh wait that is different right?

…liberal-looking pins and buttons.

What constitutes a ‘liberal looking’ pin or button?

Facts?

I am not sure that the sheriff's department acted properly in following his orders. If I lived in that county I think I'd file a lawsuit.

The tough part would be to prove a political motivation and/or a civil rights violation.

But I agree.

If I had the cash, I would buy Ravi a plane ticket to Damascus, so she could inform herself just what a "Police State" actually means.

One of the nice things about the last 30 years is that these things have become more and more rare, and the few that are left are a lot less nasty than they were in bygone days.

A guy sitting in an invitation only event and signing stuff is not the same thing at all. And the major sin of false equivalence is that it trivializes the real horrors of the thing being compared to.
 This from a twit that claimed I said Rick Scott was running concentration camps.

BM is a good nickname for you.

Yesterday, our Toad in Chief vetoed all kinds of programs that were popular: vets programs, whooping cough vaccines for the poor, etc....not unexpected but I thought this was very telling. I'm pretty sure these people are seniors that were strong armed out of a public place (The Villages is a Senior Community, I believe)

Members of The Villages Democratic Club were barred from the budget signing by Scott staffers who said the outdoor event in The Villages town square was “private.” Other staffers and Republican operatives scoured the crowd and had Sumter County sheriff’s deputies remove those with anti-Scott signs or liberal-looking pins and buttons. They escorted more than a dozen people off the property.

They can't handle dissent..

They woulda ate that guy alive, had the police not been there.

We've seen 'em threatening to kick people out over questions about medicare.. Blocking certain members of the media out of public news conferences.. And now this..

BTW, isn't Rick Scott the guy that wants to make drug tests madatory for anyone on food stamps (he has a stake in the company they would buy the testing kits from :|), but is against having a database of drug users (oxycottin and the like)?.. And now this bill, aimed at the poor of Florida?.. This guy worships at the altar of corporatism.. And Floridans don't like it; as evidenced by his dismal approval ratings.
Rick Scott is the guy that wants to profit off of drug testing people that work for the state or receive benefits.

Anyway, I have done a little research, and the Villages is a disney-esque retirement village that is privately owned and enjoys huge tax breaks.

So while Governor Toad could keep the general public from attending his event he cannot, IMO, keep residents of the Villages from attending. But that is what he did, with the help of the sheriff's office.

If Obama did that he was wrong. But I believe you are confusing him with Bush.

Yeah, unfortunately this is what Scott has been doing.

He is giving the very public impression that he is the governor of the Florida Tea Party, not Florida.

And Obama gives every impression of being president of the American Communist Party, not America.

Hey Pattycake, our President got Bin Laden. You faux cowboy just gave us yap-yap and let the murderer of 3000 Americans on American soil get away for over seven years.

Removing people that have a legitimate right to be in a public area while THEIR governor addresses a piece of legislation presented to him by the voters of THEIR state is certainly exercising rigid and repressive control over the social, economic, and political life of the population.

It's not a "public area." It was private property.
Bullshit, liar.

Did you read the OP?

If so, I'm guessing that you are stupid.

LOL! Of course . . . that is, I read it. You're characterizing a political maneuver directed at reducing the size and power of the government as being something a police state would do. It's way over the top.
How is Scott's plan to make pregnant women have an ultrasound before getting an abortion reducing the power of government?

How is his making them pay for that ultrasound different than mandating people buy health insurance? Both are government forcing you to pay for medical-related things you may not want to pay for.

A possible result of the bad polling numbers – The Villages is his bunker.

Who needs concentration camps? We have "Tent Cities".

Quit whining over George Soros talking points and get some perspective lefties that is if you are capable of independent thought. The left can never make a case about sexual infidelity after the Clinton administration and likewise they can't stir up outrage about a police state in Florida after democrat union thugs beat up a Black Tea Party activist. A Black conservative named Kevin Gladley was beaten by union (SEIU) thugs when he was giving out "don't tread on me" flags at a democrat (Carnihan) rally right after the white house issued an order to union thugs to "punch back (at the Tea Party) twice as hard". Like snakehead democrat advisor James Carville said during the Clinton campaign, "it's a war". Quit whining about Soros talking points sissies and try defending B. Hussein for a change.

To right wing extremists, most people look like communists.

To a communist, everyone to the right of Nancy Pelosi looks like a "right wing extremist."

Apparently you got Schumer's memo to call everything Republicans do "extreme."
