He cooked the books for the state economy by creating more state government jobs, not improving the private sector. Its not a record he should be proclaiming in his campaigning. But he does. Perry has a nasty habit of opening up avenues of criticism which require a bit more discretion.

Say what you want about Barry Big Ears, he didn't create the economic climate which wrecked the economy. That was done through a confluence of shady lending practices, shadier securities marketing, lack of real regulation and an over-reliance on private industry to police itself when it came to assessing securities risk for institutional investors. The financial industry fucked over the 2 major sources of middle class wealth (residential property values and securities)
