Iceland's property bubble dwarfed ours on a relative scale. Ireland's dwarfed ours on a relative scale. Spain's REALLY dwarfed ours on a relative scale. And I suppose you did not hear of England's property bubble either.

And then there is the sovereign debt crisis which is just another facet of the derivatives bubble. Greece, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Ireland. Soon...France.

Municipalities are also defaulting because of the derivatives bubble.


It is gut bustingly hilarious to hear some jackholes still blaming the CRA after all this time.

(1) Look up the Community Reinvestment Act - See the part Clinton, Dodds and Frank had in reviving a Carter Error plan and pushing it on the banks. It's the main culprit in the meltdown.
(2) Who gave Freddie and Fannie the power to create a secondary mortgage market? See Frank, Dodd and Clinton. This allowed mortgage originators to write toxic loans have investors fund them and then immediately turn around and sell them with little risk and a lot of upfront profit! Name the organization that has posted the LARGEST Losses in WORLD history. FM/FM in '11, '10, '09 & '08 and soon to be on the list '12, '13, '14 & '15!!! It's setting the record every year.

There were other culprits like the Clinton era GLB, Banks themselves, the Subprime Co jumping into the fray etc.

I mean when did subprime loans, 100% and no doc loans come into being? During the 90s, during Clinton's Presidency!!!!

Romney's made his position very clear on the housing problem - "Let it run its course and hit the bottom.” Market participants will not come back into the market until prices reach equilibrium, and there are still too many foreclosures on the sidelines waiting to swell housing inventory again to move the values up in any meaningful way. Some areas have already bottomed; some still have a ways to go. The government can't dictate prices, and interest rates are already as low as they have ever been. What additional steps do you suggest (aside from forgiving the debt of hundreds of thousands of homeowners that either made bad choices or were unlucky)? Another round of wasted tax credits for first time homebuyers?
