there's no way a Republican is going to beat a Democrat when the Republican is saying "We're going to cut your Social Security", and the Democrat is saying: "We're going to keep it and give you more."

Yeah talk about touching the 3rd rail. The American people were FORCED to purchase Social Security and pay into that government scheme for decades, before Social Security is cut the rest of the bloated Federal government will have to be cut to the bone and even then it would probably so enrage voters there would still be a throw the bums out backlash.
