It doesn't work that way.


Dollar 1 for a guy making 100k a year is taxed the same as dollar 1 for a guy making 35k a year.

It's a common mistake.

It doesn't when capital gains are recognized in conjunction with income. In theory, marginal rates should apply but they don't always.
