The solutions to these immigration problems are simple and obvious. Enforce the law. Period. Enforce the laws that criminalize employment of persons who are not in the country legally. Take away benefits. Work with Mexico and other originating countries to incentivize their returns. If we need a Billion low-paid workers, enhance our guest worker laws, but make sure that only the worker comes here, with their families remaining their own country. Tax the guest workers with the equivalent of SS, but keep the money in escrow for them, to be given back to them when they get back home.

There is no Leftist compassion for these illegals. It is all about votes, and the assumption that eventually we will have a Democrat President and Congress and all these illegal bastards will become voting citizens immediately thereafter. If you think the Republicans are "stealing" elections through gerrymandering, wait until the Dems have 30-40 million unfortunate Wetbacks lining up at the voting booths. Completely wrong. All those walls made it more difficult for people to cross. It added to the work they had to do to get around them or break through them, or go under them.

The Berlin wall wasn't designed to stop every single person, it was designed to reduce the amount of people getting to West Berlin to a trickle, and it succeeded.

All of the military walls you quoted had the purpose of making it impossible for smaller groups to raid pass the wall, and to force and invader to lay seige to the wall to get through it.
