Question for everyone: Should the United States have open borders?

Open Borders - Yes Or No

  • Total voters
    90
  • Poll closed .
I don't think anyone wants open borders. Didn't our do nothing congress have an immigration bill, what happened with that?
The Democrats will vote no to any bill that includes money to build the wall. Not having a structure to close the border means we have open borders. Break out a dictionary and look up the word open without impediment.

The Wall will be porous, as will our coastlines. Money spent to build, maintain and patrol a wall is wasteful, better to invest in more practical solutions to this Trump made crisis.

The wall will keep the weak out. Only the strongest and most determined will figure out a way around the wall, and those are the ones we want in our country.

If you really belief this you're out of touch with reality. One must first consider the world in which we live. Terrorism is a fact of life, and terrorists are determined and commit horrific crimes. To protect our citizens we do need border security, but a wall is nothing more than Trump's potemkin village.

The first question to be asked, is why are so many people coming into the United States illegally. And then and only then can realistic solutions be made to protect our institutions and citizens.

That is the job The Congress must do, and yet under McConnell and Ryan such practical matters are ignored, for their goal is to maintain their power and waste our tax dollars on foolish and self serving investigations.

As the man said, doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome is insane. Those who vote by rote for their current member of Congress this November need to accept this reality when they vote - it's time to change the leadership, way past time.
One sided Partisan Crap.............In regards to McConnell and Ryan they aren't squat either...........

Your side has been one sided on letting them in...........Have you been firing them.

Under Obama he attacked Arizona legally when they tried to implement E-Verify in the State............Under that terms of employment would require checking the legal right to work in their State............Which is a solution.......Those that hire outside of that would be subject to fines and or going to jail...............

How did that secure the border......I'm for doing that nationwide.

A layered defense is needed. Walls are needed but only in high traffic areas where cities are close together.......And no wall can stop illegals from getting into the country without manpower behind it.

In areas of vast expanse only monitoring is needed..........with roving patrols to nab those caught trying to get in........That would be an area that is open enough to get people there in time to stop them from getting in.

ICE courts are overwhelmed........More courts and Judges are needed.........The courts are overwhelmed and need help. Why anyone would want to be judge there is beyond me with the massive work load........They are getting burned out.....and rightfully so..........

E-Verify..........Nationwide......must prove you are legal to work.......Companies violating this to be fined and or put out of business for repeated violations.

End Chain migration.

Speed up Asylum claims.........if they don't have anything to back up their claims then they should be denied...........most are denied anyway..........

School and Work visa over stays................get caught overstaying your school or work visa...........you are banned from ever entering again..........

simple solutions.......with the manpower to back it up..........and it can be done.......

One more thing.......Dept. of Labor needs to get it's head out of it's ass on doing the paperwork for farm workers.........The ones doing it legally are getting screwed by their lack of ability to do their job in a timely manner.

As a liberal, my opinion is we need secure borders, but we do not need to scapegoat entire ethnic groups as rapists, murderers and neer-do-wells. The article dismisses a discussion on Trumpism which is built on hate and fear mongering, and IMO includes much which defines fascism.

I did sent a note to the DNC, to stop running against Trump, but to run against Trumpism, by enacting a policy which respects human rights and supports working toward a humane solution to the crisis at our border, and in those nations wherein its citizens flee; to health care in America; and to a reform of the system of taxation which benefits all, not the few as the current bill does.

SO you support your old tired failed policies as outlined in the article......prepare for more "Trumpism"

If congress could only compromise on something.

Much of which you've posted is doable, but not by Trump&Co. Trumpism is doomed to fail, even his supporters dismiss his many character flaws, because they believe he is making good his promises.

The truth is his promises may make his supporters feel good, but they have proved not to be good for our economy, and for the working people. From the tariff war, to the tax bill, working men and women -from those in poverty to the upper level of the middle class - will suffer; more people will lose their homes and life savings based on his efforts to kill the PPACA, and it will take years for our allies to trust us.

Trump's MAGA is already a failure, some don't believe so but in time will come to understand Trumpism only benefits Trump, and maybe his family. In fact his story is like that of Oedipus, and one day he will gorge out his own eyes.

Compromise has brought us to this ...all repubs have been doing

It's all doable.............but not with the Congress and Senate we have today............If they really wanted to secure our borders it would already be done.

You didn't mention the legal battle in Arizona over E-Verify.............Obama went after them..........on something that could work...............Would punish businesses for using illegal workers...............dry up the jobs and they would be forced to try and come legally.

That feel good crap..........I'm not gonna go down the list again on what has been accomplished........its far from nothing........especially on the issue of regulations..............On the tariffs...........it's long past due to fight back on that issue...........If you want instant gratification on that issue it's not going to happen.......We import the GDP of Germany every year...........We have a lot of leverage to force changes to a more fair trade approach...........The Tariffs target trade abuses from other countries and rightfully so.............We'll see how that goes...............but it is a Siege and not a quick result.

Your side keeps stating TDS points time and time again.........he's a failure.........you have a lot of nerve from the laughing stock we just got rid of.

No.

Next question. Should we intentionally target children with the intention of traumatizing them as our focus in order to enforce policies?

Actions have consequences, the folks to blame are the one who took the wrong actions. You got what you wanted, the families will now stay together.
In prison until they are vetted and cleared. try and be happy.

So that's a yes, Children should be targeted with the intention of traumatizing them. Should children be physically harmed as well? How about thrown in to gas chambers? Where do you draw the line? Do you have a line?

Stupid people take things out to an illogical extreme. You got what you wanted, you won. They will stay together, be happy. The "targeted" folks are the law breakers. I know that's a tough thing for a Prog to understand but the blame lies squarely on the parents. Do try and grow up so you can learn to debate without being stupid.

So where do you draw the line? I asked you a question. What is NOT acceptable to you?

You have to remember a Democrat is a moron ,like the terminator it cannot be reasoned with and it will not stop ,it is like having a conversion with a cinder block. You can only hope it will walk out in front of a Mack truck.

Please if you are so "scholarly" to send a note to DNC maybe you can supply specific examples where Trump or the rest of us have specifically labeled entire ethnic groups
as rapists, murderers, and near-do-wells."
I truly find that offensive in that in almost ALL comments President Trump and the rest of us applaud "LEGAL" immigration!
I mean I have relatives that spent a lot of time and money becoming US citizens...LEGALLY... Trump's married to a "Immigrant"...Legal... so this statement that we "label ethnic groups"
is truly hyperbolic and proof that all your information comes from the extremely biased MSM. Talk to some border guards. Let them tell you what they see daily from "ethnic groups"!

The day undoubtedly will include rescuing aliens from death by thirst or murder by border bandits, preventing neighborhood assaults and burglaries, and administering first-aid to accident victims, and may involve delivering an untimely baby or helping stranded motorists. If you don’t know them, you should.

NOVA Here's your fn wall
Since that number is $540 for everyone who voted for Trump for President ($34 Billion / 63 million people voted for Trump), lets accept donations from every Trump supporter of $540 and build the fucking thing...!!!

I find it funnier that you need to post a straw man. Nowhere did I bring up a prior administration to blame or applaud. The buck stops on the 5th hole, or at one of his hotels; all Trump does is blame others and exacerbate issues. He can't even get along with his appointees.

His Presidency is a disaster.
