If you have a problem get it taken care of. However, you and I both know that many to most PTSD claims are bogus. I'm glad you posted. Most people here don't know the culture of the VA as it stands for current veterans and the massive amount of fraud that is taking place. Indeed, the VA reps and VA doctors encourage you to almost the point of begging to file a claim. They are sales men and women for federal funding and union labor. The only thing missing is a plaid sales jacket. Besides, they have the most crappy doctors and cheap generic medications, showing us why government healthcare is a scam. Indeed, if you need to see a doctor at the VA for a serious problem and have the opportunity to have it contracted out of the VA system, DO IT!

Psoriasis is actually a bullshit problem too, but it accounts for a lot of claims. Was I exposed to dangerous toxins? Probably. Did I have to work my ass off for 15 hours a day 7 days a week? Everyone in a unit worth a shit did that or more. Did I deal with the stress of combat, fucking A right. It wasn't the sort of door banging shit the 11B's and 2111 went through, but I noticed most of those guys aren't claiming shit, and some of them can hardly even walk. They're salty senior NCO's that can still kick your ass though.

It's the admin pouges who can't seem to stop wetting their beds out of fears that saddam is going to come fuck them in the ass. They watched to much goddam South Park I suppose.

Incidentally my sister developed psoriasis also, without ever entering a recruiters office. I'm not going to ask everyone in the empire to pay for a condition I may or may not have acquired merely by taking a job that pays better than the one I took before I found out how much fun working with machine guns is.

Perhaps a slight exaggeration skipping a few steps but that’s about the gist of it. Why would I have a reason to lie to you?

I don't know, but if you think it's that easy, I dare you to go down to the VA and file for it yourself. Get back to us when you "get your money."

Why? Having served in active duty infantry for almost every hour of the past decade I know hundreds on such disability. PTSD is just a way to take a back injury or a lame knee up about 40% or so. Indeed, I know many veterans, veterans advocates, and have seen VA employees tell people to file for it whether they have it or not because, lets face it, "no one knows what’s going on in your head but you". Indeed, they even coach you on how to portray your symptoms. Have nightmares? Fidgetiness? Sit with your back to the corner? Have guilt? Anxiety? Short temper? Do you snap at family members? Depression? Loss of interest? Feeling detached? Yeah, I know the bull shit and I refuse to play the game or engage in fraud as your are suggesting. Most PTSD claims are bogus. Yeah, I could think about the past and shed a few tears in reflection if I wanted to. But I did not serve for others to serve me. How bout you?

I scored a 17. Look everyone I have PTSD!!!! PTSD Test - HealthyPlace . Freakin whatever.

Oh, I see. You're still fairly young. Well....I felt pretty much the same as you...for about 25 years. Then, all the defenses, the suppressed stuff, the charades, the compensations I'd made...it all came tumbling down.

Maybe you'll get away scot free. Many do. But, maybe you ought to reserve judgment for awhile yet.

The game ain't over.

ps: Did you see combat in Iraq, Afghanistan or someplace else?

lol! That was funny. No, I am a woman and chose the s/n Jeremiah which is obviously a mans name. Sorry, I should probably put a pic up or something that says girl there. I'll work on that.

Holy shit.

When you are so cynical....that you refuse to believe anyone.....refuse to believe trained medical professionals regarding their diagnosis.....you might need a fucking break.

Cynical, jealous fuckers.

Cynicism in regards to people in positions of authority is a classic PTSD symptom.

Likely because they were a bunch of people that never served and therefore do not have the firsthand experiences that tell us how fucked up the system is.

Well, the complaint that perhaps too many people are faking STSD might have merit.

But speaking with the authority of somebody who had to clinically deal with guys coming back from Viet Nam suffering from "shell shock" (it wasn't called PTSD then), I can attest to the fact that PTSD is a REAL condition.

And contrary to your theory that one had to be on a battlefield to get it?

ANY trauma, especially one where you were exposed to it for a long period of time, can give some of us PTSD.

People who are in nearly any shithole prison USUALLY have it.

People who suffered with years of domestic abuse often have it, too.

PTSD is about having been traumatized, usually over a long period of time.

I can sympathize with troops that faced near death experiences.

Some people are just tougher than others I suppose, but some people just need to be slapped across the face, put in a diaper, given a teddy bear and told to shut the fuck up and be a man.

Vietnam was the begin of US pussification. Sure enough many WW2 and Korean War vets got fucked up in the head, and they never got the treatment they deserved. Likewise with many 'Nam vets. I can't pass by one on the side of a bridge without giving them a buck. I feel for those guys, not only did they go through some horrific shit, but they had to get spit on by bed wetting hippie oxygen thieves when they got home.

Yet almost all of the WW2/Korea vets went on to lead prosperous lives. There was no "safety net" for them to fall into, so they just went on with their lives. The 'Nam vets were different. They seemed at least a little less able to deal with what their fathers/elders went through. So much so that we're now looking at a military that's coddled and encouraged to cry about shit. We can't even make fun of fudge packers anymore.

It's as if there's a concerted effort to weaken us, and it pisses me off.

Wrong. The great majority of us went on to live successful and productive lives too. Don't believe the caricature.

And notice the disappearance of opposition in this thread.

Notice that the Libtards on this board only drop one/two line responses or links full of heavily biased information, and sometimes links that contradict their own reasoning.

Whereas we often write entire paragraphs, remaining on topic whilst adhering to a rigid system of logic. My thread "Will any Progressive Answer this question," is a monument to this observation.

For now on, I'm only going to give one/two line responses to them, since they have no interest in arguing on either facts or principles.

That could be so, however, it is more likely that they got hooked on the VA trough, they now vote for democrats to keep the trough full, and they will suck on that government teat for the rest of their lives. Indeed, there are thousands of vets who enjoyed the leisure of Deep South Vietnam where they got to walk off base and have a beer with a local lady of the evening, and now, theyre running to the VA for crap they never came in contact with.

I did notice they don't say much.

If it doesn't take long to say what you have to say, what's wrong with that?

Hell...it saves bandwidth for the blowhards! :D

The problem is that since Progressives/Liberals never write more than one or two lines, we can never understand their side of the argument. They tell us what they are against, but never what they are for. They ridicule the philosophies of Natural Rights and Capitalism, but they do not praise any philosophy of their own.

Although I am free to form my own opinions about which philosophies are guiding modern progressives and liberals, I have yet to see their own opinions about which philosophies guide them, or are Progressive unaware of their right to form their own thoughts?

It is difficult to engage in discourse with you opponent, when you provide your arguments, but they provide none. It creates a lopsided debate where you are constantly under attack, because your opponent conceals their beliefs, thus making them immune to attack. Then they triumphantly declare victory, while not possessing any tangible thing or logical idea of which to boast. Unfortunately, for the masses, this tactic is brilliant, because you have nothing to lose, and everything to gain.

Those links do not support your claims.

And...the military is a SOCIALIST organization. You are about as wrong as a person can be.

Yes you are about as wrong as a person can be.........

There is little doubt that PTSD is real. There is also little doubt that it is way over diagnosed.

For example; The Former Chaplain (now finance offcer) of my American legion post is a battle of the Bulge veteran. Last year a VA Doctor told him he had PTSD. He came to the next meeting telling us all about it and laughing his head off.

But then on the other hand.
Our newest member has served 2 tours in Afghanistan Came home got hit by a car and has had 4 surgeries and looking at another 6 months of Rehab. No PTSD diagnosed so far.....
