Psalms - The Book of Prayer, Praise & Meditation

Psalm 17

Hide me under the Shadow of Thy Wings - KJV - This is magnificent -

Hear the right, O LORD, attend unto my cry,
give ear unto my prayer
that goeth not out of feigned lips.

Let my sentence come forth from thy presence,
let thine eyes behold the things that are equal.

Thou hast proved mine heart,
thou has visited me in the night,
thou has tried me,
and shall find nothing.
I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.

Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips thou has kept me
from the paths of the destroyer.

Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.

I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God, incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.

Show thy marvelous loving kindness,
O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them.

Keep me as the apple of the eye,
hide me under the shadow of thy wings.

From the wicked that oppress me,
from my deadly enemies,
who compass me about.

They are inclosed in their own fat, with their mouth they speak proudly.

They have now compassed us in our steps, they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth.
Like a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.

Arise, O LORD, disappoint him.
cast him down, deliver my soul from the wicked which is thy sword.
From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of this world,
which have their portion in this life,
and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure,
they are full of children and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.

As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness,
I shall be satisfied when I awake, with thy likeness.

Psalm 18

Thanksgiving for Deliverance from God
________________________________

I love you, O LORD, my strength.

The LORD is my rock, my fortress,
and my deliverer,
my God is my rock, in whom I take
refuge,

He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise,
and I am saved from my
enemies.

The cords of death entangled me,
the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me,
The cords of the grave coiled around me,
the snares of death confronted me,

In my distress I called to the LORD,
I cried to my God for help.

From his temple he heard my voice,
my cry came before him, into his ears.

The earth trembled and quaked, and the foundations of the mountains shook,
they trembled because he was angry,
Smoke rose from his nostrils, consuming fire came from his mouth,
burning coals blazed out of it.

He parted the heavens and came down,
dark clouds were under his feet.

He mounted the cherubim and flew,
he soared on the wings of the wind,

He made darkness his covering, his canopy about him -
the dark rain clouds of the sky.

Out of the brightness of his presence clouds advanced,
with hailstones and bolts of lightning.

the LORD thunders from heaven,
the voice of the Most High resounded,
He shot his arrows and scattered the enemies,
great bolts of lightning and routed them.

The valley of the sea were exposed
and the foundations of the earth laid bare

at your rebuke, O LORD,
at the blast of breath from your nostrils.

He reached down from on high
and took hold of me,
he drew me out of deep waters,
he rescued me from my powerful enemy,
from my foes who were too strong for me.

They confronted me in the day of my disaster,
but the LORD was my support,
He brought me out into a spacious place
he rescued me because he delighted in me.

The LORD has dealt with me according to my righteousness
according to the cleanness of my hands he has rewarded me.

For I have kept the ways of the LORD,
I have not done evil by turning from my God,
All his laws are before me,
I have not turned away from his decrees.

I have been blameless before him,
and have kept myself from sin.

The LORD has rewarded me
according to my righteousness,
according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight.

To the faithful you show yourself faithful,
to the blameless you show yourself blameless,
to the pure you show yourself pure,
but to the crooked you show yourself shrewd.

You save the humble but bring low the haughty,
You, O LORD, keep my lamp burning.
my God turns my darkness into light.

With your help I can advance against a troop,
with my God I can scale a wall.

As for God, his way is perfect, the word of the LORD is flawless.
He is a shield
for all who take refuge in him.

For who is God besides the LORD?
And who is the Rock except our God?
It is God who arms me with
strength
and makes my way perfect.

He makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to stand on the heights.

He trains my hands for battle,
my arms can bend a bow of bronze,

You give me your shield of victory,
and your right hand sustains me,
you stoop down to make me great,
You broaden the path beneath me,
so that my ankles do not turn.

I pursued my enemies and overtook them,
I did not turn back till they were destroyed.

I crushed them so that they could not rise,
they fell beneath my feet.

You armed me with strength for battle,
you made my adversaries bow at my feet,
You made my enemies turn their backs in flight,
and I destroyed my foes.

They cried for help but there was no one to save them -
to the LORD but he did not answer

I beat them as fine as dust borne on the wind,
I poured them out like mud on the streets.

You have delivered me from the
attacks of the people,
you have made me the head of
nations,
people I did not know are subject to me.

As soon as they hear of me, they obey me,
foreigners cringe before me,
they lose heart, they come trembling from their strongholds.

The LORD lives! Praise be to my
Rock!
Exalted be God my Savior!

he is the God who avenges me,
who subdues nations under me,
who saves me from my enemies,
You exalted me above my foes,
from violent men you rescued me.

Therefore I will praise you among the nations, O LORD,
I will sing praises to your name.

He gives his king great victories,
he shows unfailing kindness to his anointed,
to David and to his descendants forever.

Amen! And Amen! Did King David know His God? You bet he did! Isn't it wonderful to know that today you can have that same relationship with God? Even right now? Is there any better life than the life of Psalm 16, 17, 18? No. There is no better life than having a close relationship with the LORD. King David makes you thirst after it, doesn't he? He had it right. This is the summit. To know God and for God to know you. Intimately.

The Works and Words of God

Psalm 19

The heavens declare the glory of God,
the skies proclaim the work of his hands,

Day after day they pour forth
speech,
night after night they pour forth,
knowledge,

There is no speech or language
where their voice is not heard,
Their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words go to the ends of the world.

In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun,
which is like a bridegroom coming froth from his pavilion,
like a champion rejoicing to run his course.

It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other,
nothing is hidden from its heat.

The law of the LORD is perfect,
reviving the soul,
The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.

The precepts of the LORD are right,
giving joy to the heart.

The commands of the LORD are radiant,
giving light to the eyes,
The fear of the LORD is pure,
enduring forever.

The ordinances of the LORD are sure
and altogether righteous.

They are more precious than gold,
than much pure gold,
they are sweeter than honey,
than honey from the comb.

By them is your servant warned,
in keeping them there is great reward.

Who can discern his errors?
Forgive my hidden faults.
Keep your servant also from willful sins,
may they not rule over me.

Then will I be blameless,
innocent of great transgression.

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing in your sight,
O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Trust not in Chariots and Horses but in God

Psalm 20

May the LORD answer you when you are in distress.
May the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
May he send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion.
May he remember all your sacrifices and accept your burnt offerings.
May he give you the desires of your heart and make all your plans succeed.

We will shout for joy when you are victorious,
we will lift up our banners in the name of our God,
May the LORD grant all your requests.

Now I know the LORD saves his anointed,
he answers him from his holy heaven,
with the saving power of his right hand.

Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
They are brought to their knees and fall,
but we rise up and stand firm.

O LORD, save the king!
Answer us when we call!

Triumph of the King

Psalm 21

O LORD, the king rejoices in your strength.
How great is his joy in the victories you give!

You have granted him the desire of his heart
and have not withheld the request of his lips.

You welcome him with rich blessings
and placed a crown of pure gold on his head.

He asked you for life and you gave it to him -
length of days, for ever and ever.
Through the victories you gave, his glory is great.
You have bestowed on him
spendor and majesty.

Surely you have granted him eternal blessings
and made him glad with the joy of his presence.

For the king trusts in the LORD,
through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken.

Your hands will lay hold on all your enemies,
your right hand will seize your foes.
At the time of your appearing,
you will make them like a fiery furnace.

In his wrath the LORD will swallow them up,
and his fire will consume them.

You will destroy their descendants from the earth,
their posterity from mankind.

Though they plot evil against you and devise wicked schemes, they cannot succeed,
for you will make them turn their backs when you aim at them with drawn bow.

Be exalted, O LORD, in your strength,
we will sing and praise your might.

Psalm of the Cross

Psalm 22

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?

Why are you so far off from saving me,
so far from the words of my groaning?
O my God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer,
by night and am not silent.

Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One,
you are the praise of Israel.

In you our fathers put their trust,
they trusted and you delivered them.

They cried to you and were saved,
in you they trusted and were not disappointed.

But I am a worm and not a man,
scorned by men and despised by the people.

All who see me mock me, they hurl insults, shaking their heads,
He trusts in the LORD,
let the LORD rescue hiim,
since he delights in him.

Yet you brought me out of the
womb,
you made me trust in you,
even at my mother's breast.
From birth I cast upon you,
from my mother's womb you
have been my God.

Do not be far from me,
for trouble is near and there is no one to help.

Many strong bulls of Bashan encircle me.

Roaring lions tearing their prey open their mouths wide against me.
I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint.
My heart has turned to wax,
it has meted away within me.

My Strength is dried up like a potsherd,
and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth,
you lay me in the dust of death,
Dogs have surrounded me, a band of evil men have encircled me,
they have pierced my hands and my feet.

I count all my bones,
people stare and gloat over me,
They divide my garments among them
and cast lots for my clothing.

But you, O LORD, be not far off,
O my Strength, come quickly to help me,
Deliver my life from the sword,
my precious life from the dogs,
Rescue me from the mouth of the lions,
save me from the lions,
save me from the horns of the wild oxen.

I will declare your name to my brothers,
in the congregation I will praise you,
You who fear the LORD, praise him!

All you descendants of Jacob honor him!
Revere him, all you descendants of Israel!

For has not despised or disdained the suffering of the afflicted one,
he has not hidden his face from him but listened to his cry for help.

From you comes the theme of my praise in the great assembly,
before those who fear you will I fulfill my vows.

The poor will eat and be satisfied,
they who seek the LORD will praise him -
may your hearts live forever!

All the ends of the earth will remember and return to the LORD
and he rules over the nations.

All the rich of the earth will feast and worship,
all who go down to the dust will
kneel before him -
those who cannot keep themselves alive.

Posterity will serve him, future generations will be told
about the LORD.
They will proclaim his righteousness
to a people yet unborn -
for he has done it.

Psalm of the Divine Shepherd - New International Version

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he restores my soul.

He guides me in paths of
righteousness
for his name's sake,
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me,
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil,
my cup overflows,
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.

Psalm of the Divine Shepherd - King James Version

Psalm 23

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures,
he leadeth me beside still waters.

He restoreth my soul, he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I wll fear no evil,
for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou has preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies,
thou anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Psalm of the King of Glory - King James Version -

Psalm 24

The earth is the LORD's, and the fullness thereof, the world and
they that dwell therein.
For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the
floods.

Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in
his holy place?

He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart, who hath not lifted up
his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

He shall receive the blessings from the LORD, and rightousness
from the God of his salvation.

This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.

Lift up your heads, O ye gates, and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors,
and the King of Glory shall come in.

Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD
mighty in battle.

Lift up your heads, O ye gates,
even lift them up, ye everlasting doors,
and the King of glory shall
come in.

Who is this King of glory? the LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory.
Selah.

Prayer for Instruction - King James Version

Psalm 25

Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up
my soul.
O my God, I trust in thee, let me not be ashamed,
let not my enemies triumph over me.

Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed, let them be ashamed
which transgress without cause.

Show me thy ways, O LORD,
teach me thy paths.

Lead me in truth, and teach me,
for thou art the God of my salvation,
on thee do I wait all the day.

Remember O LORD, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses,
for they have been ever of old.

Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions,
according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness sake, O LORD.

Good and upright is the LORD,
therefore he will teach sinners in the way.

The meek he will guide in judgment
and the meek he will teach his way.

All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth
unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.

For thy name's sake, O LORD, pardon mine iniquity,
for it is great.

What man is he that feareth the LORD?
him shall he teach the way that he shall choose.

His soul shall dwell at ease,
and his seed shall inherit the earth.

The secret of the LORD is with them
that fear him
and he will show them his covenant.

Mine eyes are ever toward the LORD, for he shall pluck my feet out
of the net.

Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me,
for I am desolate and afflicted.

The troubles of my heart are enlarged,
O bring me out of my distresses.

Look upon mine affliction and my pain,
and forgive my sins.

Consider mine enemies, for there are many,
and they hate me with cruel hatred.

O keep my soul, and deliver me,
let me not be ashamed,
for I put my trust in thee.

Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait on thee.
Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.

Examine me, O LORD, and Prove Me

Psalm 26

Vindicate me, O LORD,
for I have led a blameless life.
I have trusted in the LORD
without wavering.

Test me, O LORD, and try me,
examine my heart and my mind,
for your love is ever before me,
and I walk continually in your truth.

I do not sit with deceitful men,
nor do I consort with hypocrites.
I abhor the assembly of the wicked.

I wash my hands in innocence,
and go about your altar, O LORD,
proclaiming aloud your praise
and telling of your wonderful deeds.

I love the house where you live,
O LORD,
the place where your glory dwells.

Do not take away my soul along with sinners,
my life from bloodthirsty men,
in whose hands are wicked schemes,
whose right hands are full of bribes.

But I lead a blameless life,
redeem me and be merciful to me.

My feet stand on level ground,
in the great assembly I will praise the LORD.

Trust in the Lord and Be Not Afraid

Psalm 27

The LORD is my light and my salvation,
whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life-
of whom shall I be afraid?

When evil men advance against me
to devour my flesh,
when my enemies and foes attack me,
they will stumble and fall.

Though an army besiege me,
my heart will not fear,
though war break out against me,
even then will I be confident.

One thing I ask of the LORD,
this is what I seek,
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD
and to seek him in his temple.

For in the day of trouble,
he will keep me safe in his dwelling,
he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle,
and set me high upon a rock.

Then my head will be exalted
above the enemies who surround me,
at his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy,
I will sing and make music to the LORD.

Hear my voice when I call, O LORD,
be merciful to me and answer me,
My heart says of you, "Seek his face!"
Your face, LORD, I will seek.

Do not hide your face from me,
do not turn your servant away in anger,
you have been my helper.

Do not reject me or forsake me,
O God my Savior,
Though my father and mother forsake me,
the LORD will receive me.

Teach me your way, O LORD,
lead me in a straight path,
because of my oppressors.

Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes,
for false witnesses rise up against me,
breathing out violence.

I am still confident of this:

I will see the goodness of the
LORD
in the land of the living.

Wait for the LORD,
be strong and take heart
and wait for the LORD.

Rejoice Because of Answered Prayer

Psalm 28

To you I call, O LORD my Rock,
do not turn a deaf ear to me.

For if you remain silent,
I will be like those who have
gone down to the pit.

Hear my cry for mercy
as I call to you for help,
as I lift up my hands
towards your Most Holy Place.

Do not drag me away with the wicked,
with those who do evil,
who speak cordially with their neighbors,
but harbor malice in their hearts.

Repay them for their deeds
and for their evil work
repay them for what their hands
have done
and bring back upon them what they deserve.

Since they show no regard for the works of the LORD
and what his hands have done
and never build them up again.

Praise be to the LORD,
for he has heard my cry for mercy.

The LORD is my strength and my shield,
my heart trusts in him, and I am helped.

My heart leaps for joy
and I will give thanks to him in song.

The LORD is the strength of his people,
a fortress of salvation for his anointed one.

Save your people and bless your inheritance,
be their shepherd and carry them forever.

The Powerful Voice of God

Psalm 29

Ascribe to the LORD, O mighty ones.
Ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.

Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name,
worship the LORD in the splendor
of his holiness.

The voice of the LORD is over the waters,
the God of glory thunders,
the LORD thunders over the mighty waters.

The voice of the LORD is powerful,
The voice of the LORD is majestic.
The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars,
The voice of the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.
The voice of the LORD strikes with flashes of lightning.
The voice of the LORD shakes the desert,

The voice of the LORD twists the oaks,
and strips the forests bare,
And in his temple all cry, "Glory!"

The LORD sits enthroned over the flood,
The LORD is enthroned as King forever.

The LORD gives strength to his people,
The LORD blesses his people with peace.

Praise for Dramatic Deliverance

Psalm 30

I will exalt you, O LORD,
for you lifted me out of the
depths,
and did not let my enemies gloat
over me.

O LORD my God, I called to you for help
and you healed me.

O LORD, you brought me up from the grave,
you spared me from going down
into the pit. ( hell )

Sing to the LORD, you saints of his,
praise his holy name.
For his anger lasts only a moment,
but his favor lasts a lifetime,
weeping may endure for a night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning.

When I felt secure, I said,
I will never be shaken,
O LORD, when you favored me,
you made my mountains stand firm,
but when you hid your face,
I was dismayed.

To you, O LORD, I called,
to the LORD I cried for mercy:

What gain is there in my destruction,
in my going down to the pit?

Will the dust praise you?
Will it proclaim your faithfulness?

Hear me, O LORD, and be merciful to me,
O LORD, be my help.

YOu turned my wailing into dancing,
you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
that my heart may sing to you and not be silent.
O LORD my God, I will give you
thanks forever.

Be of Good Courage

Psalm 31

In you, O LORD, I have taken refuge,
let me never be put to shame,
deliver me in your righteousness.

Turn your ear to me,
come quickly to my rescue,
be my rock of refuge,
a strong fortess to save me.

Since you are my rock and my fortress,
for the sake of your name lead me and guide me.

Free me from the trap that is set for me,
for you are my refuge.

Into your hands I commit my spirit,
redeem me, O LORD, the God of truth.

I hate those who cling to worthless idols,
I trust in the LORD.

I will be glad and rejoice in your love,
for you saw my affliction
and knew the anguish of my soul.

You have not handed me over to the enemy
but have set my feet in a large place.

Be merciful to me, O LORD, for I am in distress,
my eyes grow weak with sorrow, my soul and my body with grief.

My life is consumed by anguish
and my years by groaning,
my strength fails because of my
affliction,
and my bones grow weak.

Because of all my enemies,
I am the utter contempt of my neighbors,
I am a dread to my friends -
those who see me on the street flee from me.

I am forgotten by them as though I were dead,
I have become like broken pottery.

For I hear the slander of many,
there is terror on every side,
they conspire against me
and plot to take my life.

But I trust in you, O LORD,
I say, You are my God.
My times are in your hands,
deliver me from my enemies
and from those who pursue me.

Let your face shine upon your servant,
save me in your unfailing love,
Let me not be put to shame,
O LORD.
for I have cried out to you,
but let the wicked be be put to shame,
and lie silent in the grave.

Let their lying lips be silenced,
for with pride and contempt
they speak arrogantly against the righteous.

How great is your goodness,
which you have stored up for those who fear you,
which you bestow in the sight of men,
on those who take refuge in you.

In the shelter of your presence you hide them
from the intrigues of men,
in your dwelling you keep them
safe
from accusing tongues.

Praise be to the LORD,
for he showed his wonderful love
to me
when I was in a besieged city.

In my alarm I said,
I am cut off from your sight!

Yet you heard my cry for mercy
when I called to you for help.

Love the LORD, all his saints!
The LORD preserves the faithful,
but the proud he pays back in full.

Be strong and take heart,
all you who hope in the LORD.

The Blessedness of Forgiveness - KJV

Psalm 32

Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered,
Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity,
and in whose spirit there is no guile.

When I kept silence, my bones waxed old though my roaring all
the day long.
For day and night thy hand was
heavy upon me, my moisture is
turned into drought of summer.
Selah
For this shall everyone who is godly pray unto thee in a time when mayest be found,
surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.
Thou art my hiding place, thou shalt preserve me from trouble,
thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance.

I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go,
I will guide thee with mine eye.
Be not as the horse, or as the mule which have no understanding,
whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, let they come near unto thee.

Many sorrows shall be to the wicked, but he that trusteth in the LORD,
mercy shall compass him about.

Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous, and shout for joy,
all ye that are upright in heart.

* reading that Psalm is like experiencing waves of glory wash over my soul. This is the God of all Creation speaking to us personally. His Words are like water on dry land. It is a magnificent Psalm.

God considers All Man's Works - KJV

Psalm 33

Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous,
for praise is comely for the upright.

Praise the LORD with harp, sing unto him with psaltry and
an instrument of then strings.

Sing unto him a new song, play skillfully with a loud noise.

For the word of the LORD is right,
and all his works are done in truth.

He loveth righteousness and judgment,
the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.

By the word of the LORD were the heavens made,
and all the host of them, by the breath of his mouth.

He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap,
he layeth up the depth in the storehouses.

Let all the earth fear the LORD,
let all the inhabitants of the world
stand in awe of him.

For he spake, and it was done,
he commanded, and it stood fast.

The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought,
he maketh the devices of the people of none effect.

The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his
heart to all generations.

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
The LORD looketh from heaven, he beholdeth all the sons of men.
From the place of his habitation he looked upon all the inhabitants of the earth.

He fashioned their hearts alike, he considered all their works.
There is no king saved by the multitude of an host, a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.

Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him,
upon them that hope in his mercy.
To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.

Our soul waiteth for the LORD,
he is our help and our shield.
For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we trust in his holy name.

Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

Seek the Lord - KJV

Psalm 34

I will bless the Lord at all times,
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

My soul shall make her boast in the LORD, the humble shall hear
therof and be glad.

O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.
I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my
fears.

They looked unto him and were lightened and their faces were not ashamed.
This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him and saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

O taste and see that the LORD is good, blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
The young lions do lack and suffer hunger, but they that seek the LORD, shall not want any good thing.

Come, ye children, hearken unto me, I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
What man is he that desireth life and good days, and loved many days, that he may see good?

Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
Depart from evil and do good,
seek peace and pursue it.

The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous
and his ears are open unto their cry.

The face of the LORD is against them that do evil,
to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

The righteous cry and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them
out of all their troubles.

The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart,
and saveth such that be of a contrite spirit.

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivereth
him out of them all.

He keepeth all of his bones, not one of them is broken.
Evil shall slay the wicked, and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.

The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants, and none of them
that trust in him shall be desolate.

Muslims believe in the Psalms of the Bible and call them by their arabic name 'Zabur'. .

That is very interesting, Sunni. I never knew that before you told me. Just so you know I am typing both NIV ( New International Version) and KJV ( King James Version ) depending on the Psalm. Some of these Psalms do not sound nearly as beautiful in the NIV so I use my King James Version bible for those. I'm glad they are a blessing to you.
