A Liberal’s Anguish

...

It’s 10 years since the overthrow of Saddam and 25 since he ordered the Kurdish genocide. I can guarantee that you will not hear much about Saddam’s atrocities in the coming weeks. As Bayan Rahman, the Kurdish ambassador to London, said to me: “Everyone wants to remember Fallujah and no one wants to remember Halabja.” Nor, I think, will you hear about the least explored legacy of the war, which continues to exert a malign influence on “liberal” foreign policy.

When the New Left Shilled for North Korea

...

How far the North Korean Communists have fallen. Back in the day of the old fellow-travelers’ tours to the various communist paradises, the regimes had their praises sung by the likes of the African-American baritone Paul Robeson, who regularly went to the USSR and told the world how great Comrade Stalin was and how the Soviet Union had the only real democracy on Earth. At least Robeson was an All-American football quarterback and the most well-known black American actor and singer in the 1930s and 40s. He also received a law degree at Columbia University. That a man so intelligent could function as a dupe for Stalin was far more worrisome than seeing Rodman do the same today. No one would call Rodman intelligent. He is both a useful idiot as well as a real one; Robeson only filled the first category.

Bruce Bawer hits it squarely on the head when he notes that Rodman gives an impression of “utter foolishness and ignorance,” so much so that Bawer wonders if he ever has read any book at all. Bawer also points out that the attention given his view of North Korea is an indication of how the modern cult of celebrity “has taken root even in the presidential palace in Pyongyang.” And how many of our fellow countrymen might be influenced by the hosannas to both the late Hugo Chavez and the soon to be late Fidel Castro by showbiz stars like Sean Penn, Danny Glover, Tim Robbins, Harry Belafonte, and of course, Oliver Stone. The list goes on.

...

Will Michael Moore rush to North Korea to make a new film telling the truth about their wonderful medical care?

Or will even Dennis Rodman prove he knows how to read, look over Eldridge Cleaver’s diary entries and letters, and realize he is providing the evil regime with a post-modern version of Cleaver’s earlier homage?

What really would be wonderful: if, at Truthdig.com Mr. Scheer would own up to his embarrassing past and apologize publicly for his foolish early years of revolutionary bravado. I look forward to such an article.

If "diversity" is good, why do liberals congregate in lily-white enclaves like Vermont'

yes, they "congregate" there. Of course. And the people of Vermont are so racist they voted for a Black president and a Jewish senator. crazy

Ah, what a letdown. I thought you were announcing a new political party.
Don't tease me, bro.

Who the fuck is Dennis Rodman? Politically I mean.

From the 2nd article:
>> She gave birth to their daughter on July 31, 1970, in Pyongyang, which fortunately means that she can never be president of the United States. <<

Not only a dickhead source but a knowledgeable one. What more could you ask?
Needless to say I stopped wasting my time on the article there. So did John McCain and George Romey.

Guess I should have spelled it out for the slow of wit ... John McCain was born in Panama and Romney in Mexico. Because they had American parents, both were natural born American citizens and fully eligible to be President. The writer doesn't know his Constitutional ass from a hole in the ground.

Sorry if that was too deep.

Still dumpster diving for sources I see. It's good to know there are some things we can always count on in this changing world.

No, that's ^^ not me; I have never been an alcoholic. They stole that label, but that's OK since I stole it from a neighbor back in 1977. Plus, that guy's using a Dell computer. If it even works. Just tell me-- what kind of search did you do to come up with that pic?

So let me see if I have this correct.

Liberals are really racists because they vote for affirmative action?

And conservatives are really NOT racists because they hate affirmative action?

Okay, so noted.

Adolf Hitler was radically right wing, as was the entire Nazi Party.

I'm just saying.

What is "Nazi" short for?

Look, don't get into that stupid argument. Hitler was radically right wing. The Nazis were radically right wing, and they modeled their political philosophy from Mussolini's fascist movement. In Italy, the counterpart to the Nazi Party was the National Fascist Party--later known as the National Republican Party (both are now banned consitutionally by the Italians). Originally, the National Fascist Party grew in power by using their "Blackshirts" to violently attacking socialists and their institutions in the rural Po Valley thereby gaining the support of landowners.

Don't be so fucking stupid, please.

Apply that to yourself.

Fucking idiot.

If nazi doesn't really mean socialist, then how come republican means conservative? Then you can tell us why Nazis nationalized everything, which is what socialists do, not conservatives. Don't be such an idiot. We're talking about real history here, not your political agenda.

Oh please.

"Nazi" is short for Nazional ("national") which says more about it than Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (national socialist German worker party) -- Nationalism, hyperpatriotism, hyperreligionism, targeting and persecution of "outsider agitator" groups (Jews, Communists, intellectuals, Gypsies, homosexuals etc), racial purity... these are all extreme right wing positions. And they nationalized everything because they were authoritarians -- which action directly contradicted the idea of their being for "workers". If you believe everything is what the name calls it, you're gonna have a hard time explaining the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, neither of which were either. And in its early days the Democratic Party was called the "Democratic Republican Party" and commonly called the "Republican" party, before the current Republican party existed. The word republican carries no inherent meaning of "conservative". These are just names, and organizational names are propaganda tools.

Know what else? The Baby Ruth candy bar isn't really made from babies, and Grape Nuts have neither grapes nor nuts in the ingredients. Look no deeper than a name, and you'll step in a lot of shit.

Bringing Down America with the Company You Keep

...

Grathwohl’s book describes military training Weathermen received in Cuba with Russian weapons, and details how sympathetic professors helped set up Weathermen bases across American campuses. The author establishes a link between the Weatherman and Arab terrorists, exposing along the way America’s most radical network made up of lawyers, college professors, and members of left-wing clergy.

In a utopian vision of the new Weather society there was no place for the American family or dissenting opinion; all opposition was crushed and those who held power before the Revolution were executed. Their view of Cuba and Red China as models for a new America was downright chilling.

Weathermen also targeted high schools, which they saw as “prisons.” It is not a contradiction, however, that the most prominent of the erstwhile terrorists, Bill Ayers, later made a career in education. He simply continued to spread the same anti-American radical ideology by other means. By training teachers to indoctrinate American children, he exploded the country from within more efficiently than his homemade bombs ever could.

With the sitting U.S. President effectively starting his political career in Bill Ayers’ living room, the 40-year-old story of the Weather Underground and its radical ideology isn’t going away. Instead, it has moved to the very center of the currently ongoing battle for Americans’ hearts and minds.

Hence the release of Robert Redford’s film and Gordon’s revisionist novel on the side of the radical Left – opposed by the efforts of Cliff Kincaid and other liberty-loving, patriotic Americans to bring back Grathwohl’s true account of the events and the characters involved.

Among all the dismal realities of radical revolutions, perhaps the most important one barely gets mentioned: replacing the existing monetary system with the government distribution of goods and services. Money gives people the freedom to choose. Without it, free citizens become slaves to the state. While we still have the freedom that comes with money, let’s use it.

Don’t give Robert Redford any of your earnings. When Larry Grathwohl’s Bringing Down America is re-released, buy it, read it, give it to friends and family, and spread the word.

Bullies: How The Left’s Culture of Fear and Intimidation Silences America

March 29, 2013
By Jamie Glazov

...

Shapiro: The left’s favorite bully tactic is painting its opposition as morally deficient and unworthy of being part of the conversation. The left uses this tactic on virtually every topic. Sequestration? It turns out that those dastardly right-wingers just want to hurt first responders and teachers. Gun control? Those conservatives just don’t care about dead kids. Gay marriage? Conservatives hate homosexuals. Once you paint your opposition as morally bankrupt, you don’t have to win the debate. You win by default. That’s the basis of the political correctness movement.

The Obama administration uses that tactic to destroy its opposition. They work with groups outside the government to target their political opposition and destroy them personally and economically, launching smears and boycotts rather than countenancing the argument.

FP: Who are some of the biggest leftist bullies out there right now?

Shapiro: President Obama is clearly the ringleader of the leftist bullies. He seeks conflict so that he can paint his opposition as evil. Then he tells the American people that the people he’s facing just won’t compromise –- even as he refuses compromise at every turn – and begs for public support. It’s very effective.

But the left couldn’t get away with any of this without the media. The media are the greatest of all the leftist bullies, because they play at objectivity while sliding the knife in as deep as humanly possible. By lying to the American people about their disinterested reportage, they are able to convince Americans that people of good heart cannot take conservatives seriously. That’s a damaging message.

FP: Your thoughts on how the bullies have taken over our media, many of our institutions and academia. Why are all the major vehicles of political persuasion controlled by the Left?

Shapiro: We see leftist bullies in all the major institutions of American life: the university system, Hollywood, the non-profit world. The left thinks institutionally; we think individually. They think about how they can take over institutions and use them as weapons of mass conversion; we think about how we’d like to be left alone. The left understands that it’s more important to control the means of distribution than to convince individuals. That’s why they see Americans as members of groups: religious groups, ethnic groups, age groups, classes. Nobody is an individual. We’re all interchangeable widgets, defined by our socioeconomic environments. That means we’re infinitely changeable if we only had an institution to guide us. Conservatives don’t think this way, so we lose.

...

Shapiro: The goal of the left in bullying is to set a narrative that jibes with their view of the world. In the Duke lacrosse case, the left wanted a narrative of whites oppressing blacks, especially in the South. So they simply ignored the facts and created a story out of whole cloth about privileged white men raping a black woman. The entire media ran with it in order to talk about how America was still, underneath, a racist country. All of this was designed to remind the left that they are the white hats in this moral equation – that they are fighters against the prevailing racist establishment. It turns out that the whole story was a fabrication. But the left media had already ruined the lives of the white lacrosse players. Even today, some members of the left media express little or no remorse for their actions in the Duke case – including MSNBC’s own Al Sharpton, who has done more damage to race relations in this country than virtually anybody.

...

Shapiro: They hate it, predictably. Most won’t read it. That’s okay. It’s a handbook on how to fight them. It’s foolish of them not to, just as it’s foolish for conservatives not to read Rules for Radicals by Alinsky. The left has reacted to the book and to my arguments by threatening me, tweeting my home address, and targeting me personally. I had to move my wife out of the house for a week. No shock there. This is who the left is, when the mask is off.
