Many of us do simply because we find the taxes unfair. Those who created the taxes and state that it's the fair thing to do should just shut up and pay them. Why vote for more taxes, then do your level best not to pay the full amount? Isn't that hypocritical? Since some Dems have actually claimed that people would like to pay more, shouldn't they lead the way by writing a big check to Uncle Sam? Some actors have said they don't pay enough, yet nothing stops them from giving as much money as they want to government. They really should put their money where their mouths are.
I admire a person who doesn't abuse his position. Our own presidents should not live like royalty. Politicians have voted themselves so many perks over the years and then claim they only accept them because they're entitled by law. Well, when you make the laws to favor yourself, it's a handy excuse.
I still think our congress critters should be housed in a single apartment unit rather than paying them enough to buy luxury second homes. I get tired of hearing them complain about keeping two residences and needing more money. We wouldn't even charge them rent in the apartments, just assign them a unit. Would ensure that people are serving this country for the right reasons rather than seeing it as a get rich quick plan. Amazing how politicians, on both sides, tend to leave office in a much wealthier state than when they went in and all the while complaining we don't give them enough salary. Where do they get all that money when we have them on such a measly pay scale?
