He'd do a decent job. My thinking is if he doesn't go with Pence, he would probably go with Nikki Haley.

She's an Establishment politician, but, she has the experience and communication skills to broaden his reach. I suppose it depends on what candidates Trump is running against.

One thing we know for certain, Trump doesn't like to lose, so he won't take anything to chance. If he feels he has a better chance with another VP (not saying he does believe this), Pence would probably withdraw his name because he "wants to spend more time with his family" or one of those angles.
