Absent sex-ed in schools, or at home from parents, porn does serve a useful purpose teaching people how sex works. I learned how to pleasure a woman watching lesbian-themed porn. Wasn't likely to learn that anywhere else.

So much more to sex than getting on, getting in, and getting off. When you watch porn (good porn at any rate,) you see how people like to touch and be touched and the various acts possible with another person. No mean feat getting a guy off being a simple matter of friction, mositure, and repetition, but women are relatively complicated how they enjoy sexuality. And seeing how people do it is helpful.

Ideally, sex should be entirely about giving pleasure to your partner. Hopefully, they think of it that way as well so it balances out evenly with both being satisfied. But if like me, prior to having access to porn, sex is just the man lying on top of the woman and moving back and forth under the covers a couple minutes sex isn't ever going to be anything wonderful. Seeing it in all its naked glory is better than never seeing it at all and trying to get good at it through 'on the job training.'

Prior to the modern media age with videos and films, sex instruction was by way of books. So-called love manuals and the like. And there was a lot of art to view as well giving such instruction. Only recently though has society tried to make sex into something negative. Much of it lies at the feet of anti-humanist religions like the Abrahamic faiths, but not all of it. Religion's quite pro-sex in fact with a few privisos like being married. But when the natural naked human body is portrayed as sinful, education about it and how it works is going to be difficult to come by.

Porns the same as just about anything else its good in moderation, nothing wrong with enjoying a good porn flick every once in a while.

Like everything else that induces pleasure, there is a high incidence of addiction. Porn addicts are generally unable to have sex normally.

I have seen a lot of porn, really, a tremendous amount of porn and it all looks like maggots crawling over some moldy cheese to me.

lol Katz why do you watch tremendous amounts of porn if it does nothing for you? women are actually watching porn on the same levels as men now.

I guess you're trying to tell us that you're not able yourself "to have sex normally", then, yes?

For one thing, I had a husband and several boyfriends that thought porn was stimulating. For another, when I had my law office, I had many many porn stars and porn site owners. I evaluated every one of those sites myself. Now that I have neither a man aggravating me nor the office I don't even think about it unless some one brings it up. I have no objections to porn generally, but personally it is excruciatingly boring.

You might say that! It could have been totally driven out by extreme boredom. However, I have never been a porn addict. It's not like I have ever watched porn as a source of enjoyment.

Sounds like a personal problem far above and beyond anything having to do with the material.

That does not sound like any porn I have ever seen.

You're into maggot on moldy cheese porn? That's my favorite kind of porn too! And I thought I was some kind of freak. Thank god for the internet - it makes the world such a smaller place.

Brought to mind the brief flashes from "Event Horizon" :)

"“Pornography is inspiring and sexually motivating,” says Ursula Ofman, Psy. D., a New York-based clinical psychologist and sex therapist. But if you masturbate too frequently—especially in the hours before you attempt sex with a partner—your recent orgasms may make it more difficult for you to perform, or may lower your interest in sex, Ofman says. "

Should read articles before relying on them to make a point. :)

Of course porn and masturbating shortly before a sexual encounter diminshes performance - DUHH! :) Has less to do with the porn than the masturbation though. And nothing to do with the frequence. In general men don't multi climax, you can train yourself to overcoming the resolution period, but unless a porn actor the reason to do so are few and far between.

Am 43 and been masturbating varying amounts since wear two-piece Batman pajammas. In my 14 years here in Missouri, I typically masturbate after waking up, before going to bed, and usually somewhere in-between. 2-3 times is the minimum. When I've gotten new good porn I really enjoy that number goes into the "I lost track" level. :)

If porn and/or masturbation themselves can afflict a guy with ED I've yet to see the study. More likely, other factors are at play like stress, overall health issues, or being with the same person you lost sexual desire for years ago.

So the fella who is REALLY into sex is finally convinced, by his wife, to see a shrink.

Complains that he has sex first thing on arising with his wife
But it's not enough.

On his way to work has a regular appointment with a sex-starved widow.
But it's not enough.

Once at work he nails a co-worker on his desk.
But it's not enough.

At noon he rushes home for sex with his wife again.
But it's not enough.

The shrink is getting a little agitated...tells him to continue.

After lunch same desk; different co-workers.
But it's not enough.

Coffee break at 3pm, accommodates a horny typist in a janitor closet.
But it's not enough.

Shrink finally can take no more: "Good Lord man! Get ahold of yourself!!!"

"I DO, five times a day....!!!!"

AND IT'S NOT E-BLOODY NOUGH!
