How does porn "destroy" lives? porn is like anything else in life, if you over do it, it can cause you harm. You can die from drinking too much water.

Well, let me establish some basic opinions of mine before I begin to ramble. 1) The OP is a fucking nut. 2) Porn is not "evil" unless we choose to make it so. 3) I have watched plenty of porn in my life and never did I feel an irresistible urge to go rob a bank afterwards.

Now....does porn ruin lives? Well it can but like anything...if you overuse it, it becomes destructive. If a husband is more interested in watching porn and rubbing one out by himself than nailing his wife, there's definitely something wrong with that relationship, but that would be the effect of the actual problem and not the cause of the problem in the vast majority of cases.

Now I will say that porn performers can have their lives ruined. I watched a show on the industry that starred Nina Hartley where she discussed the realities of it. I tried the find the link but could not. On the whole she defended the industry but pointed out that both women and men can suffer some severe emotional (for the women) and physical (for the men) problems as a result.

But I argue....a homicide detective is willingly entering a profession wherein there is sure to be some emotional problems as a result. A football player is willingly entering into a profession where he is sure to suffer physical problems as a result. Any profession you choose carries some risk. In my early career I worked primarily as a pastry chef...eggs and flour don't seem very dangerous but believe me when I say you can fuck yourself up in a bakeshop something fierce.

So the women and men who choose to enter this profession are willingly taking the risks just like anyone who enters any profession. It's hard to argue that they are being exploited (at least in the way it's meant by the posters here) when they are willing to do it. As for those who watch it, it's up to them to ensure that they don't replace real life with it.
