Unfortunately, as a child, there was no cable. It was I Love Lucy reruns, Gunsmoke, Dick Van Dyke, etc. Now, there's just content galore. Parents need to be diligent.

I'm pretty sure you can block channels. Sounds like TruTV is a good choice for doing so in your house. Fortunately I switched over to the most basic subscription so that most of the crap the wife and I don't watch is already eliminated.

What you saw is a continuing assault visually on the American brain. It started back in the 50 s with TV they found that visual propaganda was very strong on the American brain. So they used the German approach and started on the very young, with Sesame Street series. You get it? Next came the Movie group with questionable movies. Next was the News Media. Religion - Remove the belief in God from the government and schools. 8. Class Warfare - Divide the people into the wealthy and the poor. Actually, I was being facetious. The FCC can BADGER networks that are not "on-air" broadcast. But they cannot really control their programming. That's what the Adult Preferences on your cable/sat remote are for.

Wasted TONS of consumer cash and govt money on "V-Chips" --- remember that GOVT designed useless requirement? And there is very little distinction between cable/sat and Internet programming.

Like I said when my young were little. I don't send them downtown with bus ticket money and hope they end up where they're supposed to be -- and I supervised their web content if any and preferred CDs and educational material for their "learning"..

Didn't even put in Wi-FI until daughter was 16. And that was a sacrifice, because I have a huge home office/lab with about 8 computers and assorted mobiles.
