Payless tried rebranding their shoes as a luxury brand Palessi and sold $40 shoes for $400. The customers did not know the difference

Consumers seem unable to distinguish actual quality of workmanship and materials or fashion.

They are more impressed by…….I am wearing $600 shoes

It could also be that the shoes were of high quality and undistinguishable from the high price shoes.

China not only competes in the high price markets, they turn out an equal or better product for much less cost.

Poorer Americans need to bite the bullet and look for the made in America label.
