In the United States, according to many - especially politicians, adults of the ages of 18 - 20 can not be entrusted with being able to drink alcohol.
--- The interesting story behind this is that when Congress passed the law raising the legal age required to purchase alcohol to the age of 21 due to the extremely high rate of DUIs and DUI-resulting deaths research showed the age bracket with the significantly highest rate / involvement in DUIs and DUI-related deaths was NOT the 18-20yo demographic but rather the 37 - 25yo demographic. Pressured to do something, politicians targeted young Americans rather than the worst offending demographic.
It is interesting that young adults under the age of 21yo serving in the US military, who are allowed to carry weapons, use them, kill, and die in their service to his country can not be entrusted with buying an alcoholic beverage.
Liberals are now calling for the legal age for buying a firearm for an adult American citizen (the very definition of 'infringing upon' their Constitutional Right to own a gun) be raised to 21 years.
If young American Adults can not be entrusted with buying alcohol or buying / owning a gun in the United States until they are 21 years old, and if Congress / Society is really ready to make this law, why stop there?
If you can't be trusted with buying alcohol or buying a gun until you are 21yo then every American should be required to be 21yo to:
o Buy Alcohol
o Buy a Cigarette
o Have sex
o Get Married
o Buy a Gun
o Buy a House
o Join the Military
o Have a cell phone and a car at the same time (Force those under 21 to register them - if you own one you don't get another IOT prevent 'Texting and Driving' accidents / deaths)
o Vote
