Then along comes the pressure to kick open the doors, and lo and behold, there were black people excelling in all kinds of sports .. including quarterback. In fact, any athlete in the Hall of Fame that played before the doors were kicked in should have an asterisk by his name signifying that he wasn't necessarily the best in the game .. just the best that was allowed to play. Soon after our entrance through the doors, we were redefining sports.

Government, ala, Truman desegregated the military. Of course the very same ignorance now said about gays in the military was said about African-Americans in the military. Yet today the ranks are filled with ranked black soldiers and officers .. my daughter being one of them.

The point is that pressure was required to bring sanity to an insane society .. and the lesson is that racism is less about what's lacking in those who are attacked, but far more about the insecurities and inabilities of those who use it. It is the mask of the inferior. I recognize it for what it is.

Whether you agree with that pressure or not .. who gives a fuck. Society is better for it.

The children cannot play alone without supervision for fear of some pornography encouraged pedophile predator waiting for an opportunity. Children cannot take the risks they did ten years ago, let alone fifty years ago to help them build experience and character (pick-up teams for back yard games, playing without helmets and pads, failing in school because of bad performance, etc). "Some people" have their speech monitored, and are "charged" with a hate crime for stating an "opinion" (we all know what is said about opinions). Hate crime legislation is being used like dictators in other countries use their authority to squash political dissent. Yes, the dems are responsible for a large part of that. Since he has been president: there are people claiming that "his" is the most corrupt presidency...ever, he has been sneaky and secretive about every bill that over 50% of the population did not want, the lives of the "middle class"... poverty is on the rise, the economy is in shambles and "his" administration (along with a democrat congress) has added more to the national debt than ALL previous administrations, combined.

I realize these are conservative views, let me put in liberal terms: he has made more people dependent on the government (democrat voters), he is re-distributing wealth (punishing those that work), he is telling us what we want to hear (he is lying thru his teeth).

Great post. And it's true that historically the intervention of the government was necessary. The question then remains to what degree that intervention remains necessary. I wouldn't say none... but do you think that the same level of intervention is required now?
