This OP should be saved as a supreme example of astounding liberal ignorance of American history. You would have to be incredibly ignorant of the founding fathers' writings and speeches to compare them with modern American liberals.

This is not to mention the fact that a good number of American Tories and British conservatives actually opposed the use of force and wanted to reach an agreement that would allow the Colonies to separate peacefully from the British government. An illuminating book on this subject is Andrew O'Shaughnessy's book The Men Who Lost America: British Leadership, the American Revolution, and the Fate of the Empire.
