Ohio Student Suspended for Staying in Class During Walkout

So let me get this straight. This is a school. Where students are supposed to be in class. Disruption of that should be punished. Instead, those who disrupted class and walked out were rewarded and the one who wished to remain where a student in school is supposed to be is punished instead.

What's worse is that there's only a few here who see that.

When I was in high school, this walk out and protest bullshit was NOT tolerated!

He could have sat in class and done his work in the study hall with the rest of non-participating students. If he was suspended for solely not participating I would be on his side, but that wasn't the reason he was suspended. He made a choice and that choice has a consequence.

A walk-out protest is not part of the school curriculum or regular school activities. Ergo, the argument from the school that they are responsible for the safety of the students is irrelevant since the teachers were neither obligated nor ordered to attend the protest themselves.

What's more, this protest didn't need to take place during school hours in the first place. They could very easily have scheduled a gathering at the town park or something after school hours and the business of teaching students need not have been interrupted.
