the department store employees don't even make more come year end for working holidays, what we've done is cut their hours by one day, during the holiday week, so the double time is NOT added payroll dollars. So, if the employee is scheduled to work the holiday, they are given another 8 hrs off....to compensate for the Holiday Pay....
TRIPLING the hourly rate, would be difficult for stores to give their employees 2 extra days off....so, maybe the employee could increase their yearly earnings for working a holiday?
