Oh Sure. Republicans May Not Be At War With Women, But They Certainly Don't Care About Them

I like it when conservatives explain how female workers are inherently unreliable because of pregnancy, health and child rearing activities and therefore do not deserve the same pay as a man.

Conservatives believe that if an employee tends to be less reliable than others, that employee should not be paid as well.....and sometimes, doesn't deserve the job at all.

You see, it seems that only liberals think that woman may have reason to be less reliable. If anything, liberals "feel bad" for women. Why is that? Are they defenseless?

Whenever a non-conservative starts a sentence with "Conservatives believe", you're guaranteed a complete fail.
So I am a non conservative?

So a progressive has the ability to determine who is and who is not a conservative?

Cool.
you get that shit with the farther right and left people....."if you dont agree with me.....what else can you be?"........:dunno:

I suppose you consider this toning down the rhetoric. Reconsider.

Since no conservative has ever explained that you're talking out of your ass.

What is it about this topic, which comes up every 6 weeks, that attractts such lies and demagoguing? Equal pay for men and women has been the law since the early 1960s. What these stupid laws want to do is say that basically any job holder should be paid the same regardless of skill level or experience.

IOW, another Billy Triple Nought thread where he gets his ass handed to him and posts progressivesly stupider responses.

The best wage protection for women and anyone else are free markets. Your employer sucks? Fire them. But "free" and "liberal" have nothing to do with each other, so they want a law.

Strawman, no one says women are unreliable. You two need get a room.

And? You post it as if it makes a point relevant to the discussion. That mothers are out more than fathers doesn't begin to support the sweeping statement that "women are unreliable."

(a) If an employer can get the same level of competence and performance from a woman for 77% of the cost of a man, then employers would be falling all over themselves to find women to fill their open positions. But they are not. The 77% Myth is just that, a myth.

(b) A married woman (or single mother) between 20 and 45 IS LIKELY to miss dramatically more time from work than a similar man. There will be pregnancies, care of aging parents, household problems, and she will "call in sick" when not only she is sick, but when any of her kids is sick or the babysitter doesn't show up, or they won't take her kids in daycare because they have a cold. Furthermore, she will be much less willing to work overtime, weekends, or travel overnight. And yet an employer is required by law to "un-know" these obvious facts when making hiring decisions.

(c) There will always be discrepancies in income between women and men because more women gravitate toward low-paying majors in college and low-paying jobs in adulthood. Every well-conducted study concludes that when you take into account all relevant factors the "wage gap" disappears, except in some tiny pockets of the economy.

(d) Whether it is due to biological, cultural, or other factors, women are severely under-represented in the STEM majors in college, even though colleges have watered down the curricula to make them less quantitative, where feasible. Moreover, when you talk to, for example, groups of female engineers you find that very few of them are actually doing engineering. They are made into project managers, administrators, schedulers, and sales people, because their pure engineering skills are weak.

Yes, and in fact, that is how free markets correct it. If we can hire a woman for 77% the cost, we would as you say fall over ourselves to hire them. Then bid up the cost of their services until it reaches market equilibrium.

That statistic as you also said has been studied to death and disappears when you adjust it to apples to apples. Women now work more than they did and older women are not in the workforce earning the highest wages in the numbers men are. Historically, on average, they take more time off to raise kids, they get fewer higher wage science degrees and haven't been in the workforce as long. It takes time to correct that, but as women working is becoming the norm, it is doing that quickly.

Anyone who has worked in corporate America over the last 20 years knows how hard they are looking to identify and promote women and minorities. And small business is so wide that any disparity equalizes instantly, women can do anything in small business it's such a wide open marketplace.

Once the Democrats find a drum to beat, they won't stop even when everyone has left and turned out the lights. The obsession is frankly sick and at this point harming and not helping women. It's time to declare victory and move on.

Right now a much higher percentage of women are attending college than men so it stands to reason that whatever small gap now exists (and it is small!) will no longer exist in very short order. Will there then be a protest movement for the "fair" payroll treatment of men who are averaging less than women?

Better hurry, liberals! Your "crisis" of unequal pay is about to simply disappear without a single piece of legislation being passed. HOW AWFUL!!!

Isn't that proof of a war on men and boys? We need Title XI now to address that imbalance!
