Obama was right. We should be concentrating on jobs GOP says we can't make.

How many times has the GOP said government "can't make jobs".

Even when Republican members of congress were grubbing for stimulus money they voted against to upgrade trains, fix bridges, install high speed internet, pave roads and so on. I've posted numerous links showing over a hundred GOP congressmen and senators applying for and receiving money from said "stimulus".

Obama said we should be concentrating on "Jobs Jobs Jobs" (actually he said it only one time, as opposed to Republicans who collectively said it thousands of times just before the last election).

Only, the current crop of Republicans said they NEVER ran on "Jobs Jobs Jobs" because government "can't make jobs". Which is odd since so many received "stimulus" money.

So now, apparently, we may be able to concentrate on the next election.

Will Republicans, once again, run on "Jobs Jobs Jobs"? Will America believe it? Again? With corporations sitting on trillions, will America vote for leaders who want to give them even more GOP subsidies? With the wealthy holding the most money in American history, will America side with the GOP to give them even more tax breaks? Will America march side by side with the GOP leaders, hoping they move more of the tax burden to the middle class to keep taxes on the wealthy as low as possible? Will the elderly gratefully thank the GOP for the few thousand dollars they will be given to go look for an insurance policy they know will never be found in lieu of Medicare?

Will the GOP run on "Government can't make jobs" and win?

The next election will be interesting. No doubt it.

Oh so now he wants to work on jobs. Maybe he should have thought about that nearly 3 years ago when he took office.

He wants to conveniently ignore the fact that he has been forcing through legislation the American people didn't want and that have put more burdens on the economy and pretend as if he has had no chance to fix things. What's more amazing is that you are blindly issuing talking points as well.

Please rdean. Don't insult our intelligence by pretending that Obama gives a damn about American jobs suddenly. How convenient that it's right around election time.

"Well, I'm here to tell you, some time in the next couple of months, we're going to be creating between 250,000 jobs a month and 500,000 jobs a month." -- Joe Biden, April 2010

How many time have I heard Obama say he's "focused like a laser on creating jobs"..
He's focused like a laser on health Care....
He's focused like a laser on Debt Limit....
He's focused like a laser on....building a new and better laser......maybe

How bout Joe Biden promising 500k jobs a month?
How bout those shovel ready jobs?
How bout the Summer of Recovery 2010....now 2011?
How about shoving Health Care down our throats...when this administration doesn't even know what's in the bill?
Nancy Pelosi said we need to pass it to find out what's in it....
Let's constantly push to raise taxes on the people who actually might have the money needed to create jobs?
Let's continue on this path of beating the crap out of anyone who wants to have the government spend less ....
The Democrat's answer and it's the answer for everything....Spend more....spend more....Spend even more.

Oh, yeah. I'm just praying that the independents have a long enough memory to bring them back to this summer, the Party of No, and the economy almost being driven over a cliff while the [expletive-deleted] had fits. Can't wait.

A deano follower? Same advice, take it, it's free....

I have to say, Im fairly amused that rdean is always waiting around for some politician to create jobs. Maybe one of these days he will get off his lazy butt and make his own.

Isn't that the dirty little secret? We don't need government to do anything in order to create jobs.

Government does create jobs though. That's just a fact. Government projects to create and repair infrastructure provide opportunity that construction companies may not have otherwise had (particularly in a weak housing market). Public schools provide employment for millions of jobs for people including, teachers/administrators, food services, and cleaning services. Not only that, but teachers spend a great deal of their salary buying supplies (aka putting money back into the economy). Bureaucrats are people too, they spend money. And as if that isn't enough, the government provides unemployment for people that enables some to have enough money to start their own businesses!

Tell me, what do you do to create jobs?

Well, somebody tell the Repubs and their followers that the government doesn't create jobs. That's been one of the things they've been bitching at Obama for since he took office. "Where are the jobs?", they asked the Dems. Then there was a rodent infestation at the House - still no jobs.

Yeah. The Govt does create jobs.

The only problem is that they are taxpayer funded jobs. More of a burden on the taxpayers of America.

Barry's policies have done nothing to create private sector jobs. His policies have hindered the recovery big time.

If business doesn't have a stable business environment then they will not hire or expand. They will sit on their money which is exactly what they are doing. I would too.

Coming in 2011: Summer of Recovery, Part II Rise of the ATM's

Bank ATMs and airport kiosks crushed the green shoots from the 2010 Recovery and Emperor Obama and his idiot henchman Obama decide to strike back!

Coming in 2012: The Return of the Summer of Recovery: It's Bush's Fault!

He hasn't been concentrating on jobs the last 30 months?
I'll bet he'll be concentrating on saving his over the next 15 months.

I'm surprised, he was able to stop the rise of the oceans before the election and can't do a simple thing like create jobs? Even after spending us $3 trillion deeper in the hole.
Maybe he's not as smart as he wants us to think he is?

Uh-oh, here we go again...
:eusa_eh:
Stocks on long losing streak as economy weakens
Aug 2,`11: WASHINGTON (AP) -- The stock market is on its longest losing streak since the financial meltdown of 2008, confronted almost every day by fresh evidence that the economy is in serious trouble again.
The Dow Jones industrials declined more than 265 points Wednesday, their worst day in more than two months, and closed below 12,000 for the first time since June 24. Investors sold all day after a report that the economy, which is barely growing and straining to produce jobs, is getting almost no help from consumer spending. Americans saved more in June and spent less for the first time in almost two years. The big declines in the stock market came despite the formal end of weeks of uncertainty over whether Congress would raise the federal government's borrowing limit.

President Barack Obama signed into a law a bill that raises the debt ceiling and promises more than $2 trillion in cuts to government spending over the next decade. The bill was passed by the House on Monday and by the Senate earlier Tuesday, 74-26. But investors were more worried about the economy, and the sell-off only accelerated. It was the eighth consecutive daily drop for the Dow and seventh for the Standard & Poor's 500 index, in both cases the longest since October 2008.

During its eight-day decline, the Dow has lost 858 points, or 6.7 percent. The average closed at 11,866.62. The S&P 500 closed at 1,254.05, and is now down slightly for the year. "The market is starting to wonder where the growth is going to come from," said Nick Kalivas, a vice president of financial research at MF Global. "It hasn't hit the panic button yet, but that's where we're drifting." The spending decline in June came after a report last week that the economy grew at an annual rate of less than 1 percent in the first six months of the year - the slowest since the end of the Great Recession in June 2009.

Tuesday's report showed that by June, Americans had only grown more cautious. They are faced with high unemployment, stagnant pay, sliding home values and other challenges. "With gasoline prices high, incomes not growing and the craziness in Washington creating uncertainty, is it any surprise that people stopped spending?" asked Joel Naroff, chief economist at Naroff Economic Advisors. The government said consumer spending dropped 0.2 percent in June. It was the first decline since September 2009. Consumer spending fuels about 70 percent of economic growth.

Government cannot "create" jobs per se. It can only change the structure of production. Every dollar the government uses to create jobs is a dollar taken from the free market to create jobs, and the free market creates jobs based on supply and demand not political favoritism. Not to mention bureaucrats suck up money with bloated salaries and produce nothing. Government only distorts the market when it creates jobs by stealing private jobs.

Do you really not understand that public sector jobs are only made possible by taking money out of the private sector? Did you not just see what happens when we spent all that stimulus money on "creating" jobs in the public sector? Doing so does NOTHING to stimulate the economy because you're just robbing Peter to pay Paul...only before you pay Paul you've wasted half of the money you stole from Peter through sheer ineptitude. REAL jobs are created in the Private Sector...by business people trying to make a profit...you know...that thing that all Progressives hate so much?

Exactly. To further add to the "sheer ineptitude" point, I would note that spending also has to pay the salaries of bureaucrats. These bureaucrats produce nothing of economic value. Even if government was as efficient and productive as the private economy, it could still never create as many useful productive jobs because it has to pay salaries of unproductive bureaucrats. You may say "but the bureaucrat has a job too!" but that assumes employment is the ends and purpose of production. Wrong. Consumption is the purpose of production and the desired ends, employment is the means of getting there. Employing people to do nothing will not grow the economy, it will only waste resources.

We see the new government jobs, but we do not see the jobs that were never allowed to come into existence because government taxed them away. Such is the broken window fallacy of government created employment.

....Not-to-mention the extensions to Unemployment Insurance....permitted (by the Grand Oil Party), ONLY upon the condition that the Bush tax-cuts were given an extension.

Yeah.....how dare WORKING PEOPLE be given any consideration, without (also) considering the hard-time$ faced by the 1%ers/high-roller$?

Libturds don't understand the distinction between a job and a paycheck. The government dispenses paychecks, but that doesn't mean the people who get them have something that can properly be labeled a "job." Getting paid to operate an automatic elevator isn't a job. It's welfare.
