Now imagine folks, there's an old Bear out there in the national park... it's counseling the cubs to not go down to the garbage dump and forage for food there, as the old bear knows that such is unnatural and can't be depended upon. That by depending on such as a resource, the cubs will never learn how to forage as nature intended and when times get tough, they will perish because they lack to skills to survive.

But as time goes on, the old Bear is found down at the dump and the little ones laugh because the old bear had counseled them to not do so... not realizing that the old bear had simply fallen victim to the same poor reasoning that is killing them.

The moral to the story is that we're all human beings and we're all subject to searching for the easier way...

So, just because an easier way appears, that doesn't mean it can be sustained and where one becomes DEPENDENT UPON THAT WHICH CAN'T BE SUSTAINED... ONE BECOMES UNSUSTAINABLE.

And this remains true no matter how many people say otherwise and no matter WHO succumbs to it... .

Medicare was designed as a last ditch means by which the indigent could secure medical care. Today, it's become some twisted panacea fantasy, which could not be sustained by any system where the natural laws of mathematics are a function of that reality.

Expanding Medicare won't happen for the same reason as single payer. The gigantic health system employs too many and has to be regulated down to non-profit status over many years.
