Obama Looking For Ways Around Congress On Gun Policy

Here we go again KING Obama wants to by pass CONGRESS again.. Now making stricter laws is only going to make it harder for law abiding citizens to get guns NOT the criminals since most of them get them on the streets not from guns stores..

Oh and I used HUFF post on purpose so you left wing hacks cant say it is a right wing website:badgrin:

I wish the idiot in chief would hold off on this crap...until at least he gets re elected...then he will piss people off a ton and he is going to cause a rebellion.

As for other possible actions that can be taken without Congress, Mayors Against Illegal Guns has compiled a wishlist of sorts, suggesting that the national background-check system enforce the requirement that all federal agencies report individuals forbidden under federal law from purchasing guns; that the White House restructure regulations requiring that the FBI destroy firearm-purchase records after 90 days; that the FBI, DOJ and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives be more aggressive in pursuing federal prosecutions against those individuals who illegally attempted to buy firearms; and that the latter agency ramp up undercover investigations of sales at gun shows.

Last paragraph, not surprisingly. Putting more regulatory impediments in the way to legal gun ownership won't help against people who illegally obtain guns. The only thing that would help is more/better enforcement of existing laws and rooting out those who supply guns illegally.

Just like cops who fight drugs try to get to the dealers, that's what needs to happen with illegal guns.

The article is a few months old, but this caught my eye:

With respect to the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.), a Clinton-era rule had prevented the military from reporting to the Federal Bureau of Investigation that the alleged shooter, Jared Loughner, had been rejected as a recruit for failing a drug test. Obama could reverse that without Congress, Glaze and an administration official said.

:eusa_eh:

How is that grounds to deny gun ownership?

Isn't it interesting that the ONLY thing Obama has done in his term is LOOSEN gun restrictions.....he's sneaky that way.

This from your link:

For gun control advocates, however, executive action remains a more promising -- albeit more limited -- vehicle for reform than Congress. On Monday, The Huffington Post first reported that the Justice Department was convening meetings with groups from across the ideological spectrum in an effort to chart potential policy changes to Second Amendment law.

The discussions were meant to build a broad coalition around the elements of reform Obama had outlined a day earlier in an op-ed for the Arizona Daily Star, including stronger state-to-state coordination, expedited background checks and greater enforcement of the laws already on the books, especially with regard to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System

Tell us your objections to that.

It would appear the OP failed to read, or comprehend, the cited article; otherwise this thread succeeds only in displaying an inflammatory and misleading title.

None of the proposed actions conflict in anyway with existing 2nd Amendment case law, in no way violate separation of powers by getting ‘around’ Congress, and seek only to enforce existing laws and policies.

It isn't, one must be convicted of a Felony to lose the right. Simply failing a drug test and no charges means no action can legally be taken.

Oh come on now. You and I both know that, but facts and reasoning mean nothing to the nutters. Let them have their fun.

Unfortunately, this is a pattern with Lovebear....basically, finding something and posting it with very little comment above and beyond falling for the "hook"....She is ill prepared at any time to discuss the issue presented and is simply a "mouthpiece" for whatever she found. Try to engage her in dialog on the issue of her threads and you will find her an empty suit every time.
