Obama inherited the worst Recession in U.S. history

The worst in history would have been the great depression which came as a result of the 29 crash and as has been pointed out many times this is one of if not the slowest recoveries we have ever seen.

Yup...but how were we doing in 04. How was the state of the economy then? Why do you think bush couldn't wait to get the fuck out of office. We were so close to a.depression. honest to.god people have short.memories.

I don't care how partisan you are....you have to admit bush really really hurt this country economically.

I can't find a President who made a faster recovery against the worst Recession in U.S. history.

The one that historians have already labeled the "Great Recession"

Anyone?

:)

The problem is we have yet to recover, but please, keep dreaming!

Confirmed: Obama the Worst Jobs President in US History Presiding Over the Worst Recovery in US History

He’s Simply the Worst–
Since Barack Obama’s inaugural in January 2009, the United States has seen 54 straight months with the unemployment rate at 7.5 percent or higher, which is the longest stretch of unemployment at or above that rate since 1948, when the Bureau of Labor Statistics started calculating the national unemployment rate.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Obama has the worst jobs record of any President in the last 60 years. From 1948 until January 2009 when Obama took office, there has also been a combined 39 months of unemployment above 8 percent. Since Obama took office we endured 43 consecutive months of unemployment above 8 percent. This is another record.

Obama inherited nothing. He asked for it, he campaigned for it, he got it.

If he was not aware of what he was getting, or if he didn't believe it, he should have quit.

It's high time that he and his supporters quit whining about what he "inherited."

It began with Reagan and supply side, and Reagan tripling the national debt. As long as Reagan pumped borrowed dollars into the economy it seemed to be OK. Then Bush came along and doubled the debt again and more borrowed dollars. I wonder what those borrowed dollars are costing us today in interest and repayment? General Motors was on the brink and the nation was also on the brink and this time on the brink of another Great Depression.
Still today we are recovering, slowly to be sure but recovering. And the Republicans have the audacity to complain the recovery is too slow or nonexistant. Their strategy of shutting down the govenment didn't work so it's all they have.

The excuse was lame since day one. If anything? They have made it far worse, and an excuse to steal more liberty.

And what is OBAMA doing? Reagan didn't have these kind of deficits, did he? This kind of DEBT...unfunded mandates...YOU need to go back to school son.

Did Reagan have his FED pumping $85BN a month in the stock market in electronic funny money?

NO!

Can't wait for the crash can you? ALL your dollars will be worth is BURNING for heat...

04 you mean the year Bush wanted out office so bad he ran for reelection that 04? We were so close to a depression that the economic meltdown started in October of 08 and let us not forget where that started with Clinton and policies that allowed low interest housing loans to be given people who never should have had them and to be fair policies that Bush continued yes people do have short memories.

Reagan destroyed the S & L industry, tripled the debt, and caused the 2nd worst market crash in U.S. history.

Bush tripled the debt and created the worst Recession in U.S. history.

Should America risk giving the people who created these messes, the opportunity to fix them with the same policies that caused the messes?

The country has answered that ....

OK, so you're not saying that the economy isn't recovering just that Reagan didn't have big debts and Obama does, correct?
So how much did Reagan have his Fed pump into the stock market in electronic funny money? Is electronic funny money worth anything?

At 162,000, the July jobs report fell short of expectations and well shy of “whisper” numbers for payroll figures above 200,000. In addition, job tallies were revised down for May and June and average hourly earnings fell 0.1% in July, the first decline since October.

The data disappointed Wall Street economists but are consistent with the trends Dan Alpert, managing partner at Westwood Capital, cited in a recent report: “The fact is that the U.S. employment situation is more of a wounded beast than a bull,” he writes.

According to Alpert’s analysis, 69% of the jobs created in the second quarter – and 57% in the first half of 2013 – were in the three lowest-paying sectors of the economy: retail trade, administrative and waste services, and leisure and hospitality. These jobs, which account for 33% of all private sector jobs, pay an average of $15.80 per hour.

“What you’re seeing is now the spreading of low wage growth,” he says, noting those trends continued in Friday's July jobs report. “Really we have become a nation of hamburger flippers, Wal-Mart sales associates, barmaids, checkout people and other people working at very low wages.”

How can teenagers compete without a decent education? Adults with families have taken their jobs because that's all they have left./ Like Obama said those shovel ready jobs weren't so shovel ready.

Friday's jobs report was disappointing, but it also contained a truly heartbreaking statistic. Black teen unemployment is a shocking 41.6%. In July last year, the unemployment was considerably lower, at 36%. That almost half of black teens who want to work can't find jobs is a stain on Obama's economic policies. This isn't a numbers trick. This isn't a rate based on the whole black teen population in the country. This is the proportion of the black teen population that is looking for work but can't find a job. Just in March, the number was eight points lower at 33%....

What are the true figures that Obama will not show?

Obama is only responsible for good things that happen. We all know who yo blame for the bad stuff.

The recession wasn't Bush's fault. That's simply absurd. It was caused by a housing bubble and collapse. Bush was one of the few people in Washington warning about the dire economic consequences if we didn't deal with out of control lending and borrowing.
It was people like Chris Dodd and Barney Frank that pooh-poohed Bush's concerns...saying there was nothing to worry about.

Dude, you seem to forget that Bush was the guy who gave us TARP despite taking serious heat from fiscal conservatives over doing so. The Obama Stimulus isn't what kept the country from going over an economic cliff...it was TARP...started by W. and continued by Barry.

You can't seem to comprehend that Obama's Stimulus was "underwhelming". If you figure out what each job he created with the trillion dollars his liberal pork fest cost us it's laughable to call it a success. You don't create a new economic statistic..."jobs created or saved" if you're actually creating jobs. You do that if you're NOT!!!! You also don't seem to grasp the damping effect that ObamaCare has had on the economy and on jobs in particular. Then throw in the threat of EPA crackdowns on greenhouse gasses and threatened Cap & Trade regulations that Barry WANTED but couldn't get because he lost control of the House and the truth is that if the GOP hadn't taken back the House and taken away those Super Majorities from the Democrats...we'd be in even worse shape!!!

Obama is a lying little weasel. It makes no difference what he inherited. He would've screwed the pooch no matter the state of the country upon his inauguration.

How can anyone defend that manipulative demagog whose only talent is prevarication?

Whatever numbnuts inherited, he's scsrewed it up four fold
