Obama calls for all Americans to pledge their loyalty to the government!

Obama must go. Pledge my loyalty to a bunch of greedy self centered politicians? Obama has put this car into overdrive as far as I'm concerned. He claims republicans put it in the ditch. Well he is pretending he is thelma and Louise

Fuck Obama and his vision

I fail to see the point. I didn't see anything about pledging loyalty to the "government" in the OP.

What am I missing?
You missed the title line in the OP. It stated "Obama calls for all Americans to pledge their loyalty to the government!"

Go back and look at the OP once again. You missed the forest for the trees, dear. It's ok. It happens to all of us sooner or later.

Lakhota misses most everything... he's not one of our best or brightest.

The President needs to lead by example, not proclamation. He seems to have loyalty to a world order, not the USA. Obama has been the most active President in trampling the Constitution for his own purposes. If I did fly my flag today, it would have to be upside down.

Presidential Proclamation--Loyalty Day

When our Nation's Founders adopted the Declaration of Independence, they pledged to build a government that represented America's highest ideals, a Union that secured its people's sacred rights by "deriving [its] just powers from the consent of the governed." From the Revolutionary War to the formation of our young country, our Founders' commitment to this principle never wavered. In the fall of 1787, America launched its improbable experiment in democracy, embedding in our Constitution the core values of liberty, equality, and justice for all.

Throughout our proud history, Americans motivated by loyalty and fidelity to these principles have worked to perfect our Union. Our Constitution grants Americans unprecedented freedoms and opportunities. We are free to speak our minds, worship as we please, choose our leaders, and criticize them when we disagree. The liberties enshrined in our founding documents define us as a people and a Nation, ensuring that every American with the drive to work hard and play by the rules has the chance to build a better life for their children and grandchildren.

For over two centuries, Americans have looked with pride and devotion on a Nation that reflects its people's highest moral aspirations. On this day, we celebrate our brave men and women in uniform and honor those who gave their lives to keep our country safe and free. We also reflect on the contributions of patriotic civilians united by an understanding that citizenship is not just a collection of rights, but also a set of responsibilities.

The ideals upheld by our forebears have stirred the resolute devotion of the American people and inspired hope in the hearts of people from across the globe. With trust in a future that keeps faith with our history, we remain true to the promise of America and the spirit that unites us all.

In order to recognize the American spirit of loyalty and the sacrifices that so many have made for our Nation, the Congress, by Public Law 85-529 as amended, has designated May 1 of each year as "Loyalty Day." On this day, let us reaffirm our allegiance to the United States of America, our Constitution, and our founding values.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim May 1, 2011, as Loyalty Day. This Loyalty Day, I call upon all the people of the United States to join in support of this national observance, whether by displaying the flag of the United States or pledging allegiance to the Republic for which it stands.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this twenty-ninth day of April, in the year of our Lord two thousand eleven, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-fifth.

BARACK OBAMA
I could reaffirm my allegiance to the USA, to our Constitution, and to our founding values 24/7/365.

You know that is not the same as loyalty to the government, right?

Right?
We pledge our allegiance to the republic, past, present, and future, not the president, nor the politicians and not the politics of the day. We are pledging our support to a form of government defined by the founding fathers. If we all supported the republic only when we thought it was doing the right thing, it would have disappeared years ago.

Obama wanted to say loyalty to the President, but he had to stop just short of actually saying what he meant.

On this day, let us reaffirm our allegiance to the United States of America, our Constitution, and our founding values.

I don't see anything wrong with that statement.

Except once again, he's lecturing the rest of us while having absolutely no intention of following his own admonishment, or even leading the way.

Hahahahaha, fauxraged folks are amazing!!!!!

John F. Kennedy: Proclamation 3528 - Loyalty Day, 1963

By the President of the United States of America
A Proclamation
Dedication, devotion, and loyalty to our country and to the free democratic precepts upon which it was founded has always been a cherished tradition with our people-from our Founding Fathers to our servicemen now serving in the far-flung corners of the world. Understandably, our people avoid ostentatious displays of patriotic fervor. Nevertheless, in these trying times, when international forces are attempting to undermine and destroy our form of free government and our way of life, it is entirely fitting and proper and in the national interest to set aside a special day each year on which to express our unceasing devotion and loyalty to this Nation. To this end, the Congress, by a joint resolution of July 18, 1958 (72 Stat. 369), has designated May 1 of each year as Loyalty Day and has requested the President to issue a proclamation inviting the people of the United States to observe that day with appropriate ceremonies.

Now, Therefore, I, John F. Kennedy, President of the United States of America do hereby call upon the people of the United States, and upon all patriotic, civic, and educational organizations to observe Wednesday, May 1, 1963, as Loyalty Day, in schools and other suitable places with appropriate ceremonies in which all of our people may join in a reaffirmation of their loyalty to the United States of America.

I also call upon appropriate officials of the Government to display the flag of the United States on all Government buildings on that day as a manifestation of our loyalty to the Nation which that flag symbolizes.

In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the United States of America to be affixed.

DONE at the City of Washington this 18th day of April in the year of our Lord nineteen hundred and sixty-three, and of the Independence of the United States of America the one hundred and eighty-seventh.

I'd be just as outraged if Reagan demanded loyalty to our government as I would any other president. We understand YOU are blinded by a cult of personality, but that doesn't mean your projection onto us is valid OR true.

But the understanding of a pseudo-con is not much understanding at all. Every president make this proclaimation every year. Demanding? It is not, but when all you've got is lies to go with you do what you can right Big Fitzie?
