Hmmm? How about that. So Trump should follow the Øbama example and order testing for COVID-19 stopped and voila! Far fewer new cases.

...
However, during the 2009 swine flu pandemic, the Obama administration suddenly told states to shut down their testing, without providing much in the way of explanation. And, Biden's top advisor at the time has acknowledged that the Obama administration didn't do "anything right" to combat that pandemic, before walking back those comments.
The record seemingly complicates Biden's claims, in advertising and speeches, that he would have handled state-level coronavirus testing more effectively than the current White House.
"In late July, the CDC abruptly advised states to stop testing for H1N1 flu, and stopped counting individual cases," CBS News reported in 2009. "The rationale given for the CDC guidance to forego testing and tracking individual cases was: why waste resources testing for H1N1 flu when the government has already confirmed there's an epidemic?"
Reporter Sharyl Attkisson continued: "Some public health officials privately disagreed with the decision to stop testing and counting, telling CBS News that continued tracking of this new and possibly changing virus was important because H1N1 has a different epidemiology, affects younger people more than seasonal flu and has been shown to have a higher case fatality rate than other flu virus strains."
... Once the numbers of cases increased beyond the point where counting of individual cases was practical, on July 23, 2009, CDC reported the number of 2009 cases for the last time."

The rationale was that the tests were not very accurate, would not change how you were treated, did not distinguish H1N1 from other flu viruses well, and would lead some people to have false confidence that they had contracted H1N1 already, causing people to skip the vaccine and/or behave recklessly. It was a different calculus than the novel coronavirus on so many levels, not least of which is the more dangerous nature of the novel coronavirus.

Make your own value judgment about whether they made the right decision, but let's not pretend we don't know why they did it.

This is the second thread on this topic today. Was this put out in the right wing talking points bulk email this morning? How does this compare to the current clusterfuck we are experiencing? As I recall, there were approximately a little over 1000+ deaths with the H1N1. Obama acted early in the outbreak. Didn't declare a state of emergency but did declare a public health emergency. There was a vaccine within 6 months. What are we up to today? 135K+ dead? Millions of people infected with the numbers growing daily. There is no comparison between the two viruses...and the response to them.

Øbama ordered testing stopped. We will never know how many deaths after testing stopped because that was the intent of the Øbama order. The count ended July 23, 2009.

Øbama didn't declare a public health emergency until late October 2019, after more than 1000 Americans had died of H1N1.

President Obama finally declared H1N1 a public health emergency on October 24, 2009.

And now that we know Øbama ordered testing stopped we will never know the actual death toll thanks to that order.

Surely even ardent 'Orange Man Bad' sufferers can understand this:

... Once the numbers of cases increased beyond the point where counting of individual cases was practical, on July 23, 2009, CDC reported the number of 2009 cases for the last time."

Hillary or Biden would have done the exact same thing with the Wuhan virus, and the MSM and CDC would have covered for them just as they covered for Øbama in 2009-2010 over this.

And the CDC is merely an extension of the Democratic Party, which is why no public complaining or whistleblowers about what Øbama did.
