Mr. Hogan probably didn't have to be "pressured" at all. He realized he didn't have a chance, and no one is interested in working for or donating to such a quixotic effort, so why bother? All it would do is to create ill will in the party and give him another burden to overcome in the primary if he wants to run again.

Mr. Weld is a lot older, and his career as a serious political candidate are over. Different circumstance
