NO Dem. "coronation"...now 5 Dem. candidates

Illinois public sector union disaster.....

Why Illinois is Going Bankrupt TIME.com

Lawmakers promised more and more benefits to retired teachers, police officers, firefighters, and other government workers over the past decade; meanwhile, the pool of money to pay these pledges was neglected. The estimated shortfall of nearly $100 billion between now and 2045 is, believe it or not, a rosy scenario, given that a) it assumes robust investment returns and b) doesn’t include local pension disasters, like the estimated $20 billion hole in the City of Chicago system.

Typical R-Wer's response......NO ONE is stating that there are NO excesses with unions.......What even an idiot should not deny, however, is that without unions there would be NO middle class in this country....only an oligarchy or plutocracy.

Tell that to John Kerry when he picked John Edwards as his VP.

And the south was solidly Democratic when JFK ran. I doubt his pick of LBJ made any difference

Edwards WAS a good choice until the scandal hit......

Your conclusion that the VP slot makes no difference should prompt an honest conversation with McCain regarding the Palin choice.

Five? So, we have Hillary, who need be known only by her first name, and four people no one has ever heard of? That sounds like a race alright, for the number two slot.

Well, I do agree......but not much different than the GOP side where at least 15 of them are either running for a VP, cabinet or Fox pundit slot.

Nobody cares about where the Vice-President is from. It will have absolutely no bearing whatsoever on which candidate people vote for.

Yeah? Tell that to JFK's advisers when they picked LBJ as VP

"Solidly Democratic" with a caveat -- it has always been anti-liberal and anti-Northerner, and Kennedy certainly fit both of those labels (and if there's any doubt about that...

The South had rebelled against the DP and run its own candidates before, as far back as 1860 and as recently as 1948; even with LBJ some 1960 Southern electors voted for Harry Byrd who wasn't even running (without which votes the JFK margin would not have been as razor thin as it was). And in the next election ('64), George Wallace, a Democrat, petitioned Goldwater to be his running mate; Goldwater declined and then had to talk Wallace out of running on his own.

The times they were already a-changin' and Kennedy's people could see they needed a balance. They sure didn't pick LBJ for being Mr Congeniality.

It got him killed in Dallas

I's still like to know from right wingers if picking Palin as a VP had NO impact on McCain's candidacy.

I said the location of the VP doesn't matter.

Yeah? care to name the last time a president and VP were from the same state?

They can't be from the state, stupid. That's illegal.

Yup, 12th Amendment. That's why The Dick Cheney had to change his official residence to move out of Texas, four days before taking the position of Shrub's running mate -- which had to be settled in court.

Funny, there seems to have been more evidence that Barack O'bama was born in Hawaiì than that The Dick actually lived in Wyoming... yet I don't remember the Selective Constitutionists putting up billboards about it....

Whats union membership running these days?

Says something for how extreme the Republican party has become that Jim Webb's a Democrat. He'd have been a classic Eisenhower Republicans back in the day.

I'd take any of the Democrats over the fools in the GOP clown car so far, who don't seem to have any vision for America other than whining a lot about how there are more people of color around.

Of course, this is good, along with Hillary Clinton, we have
Sanders
O'Malley
Chafee
...and soon, Webb.

The only possible negative may be that all of the above names are from the northeast part of the US; perhaps the VP slot MUST then come from a red state.

Hillary's running mate will be Julian Castro.

If someone offered to make you a $25 bet on whether Hillary will be the Democratic nominee with Castro as VP, would you take it?

Oh, please. The Dems have moved so far left they'd reject JFK today. He'd never be able to win the Dem nomination with what they've become.

Julian Castro is not going to be on the top of anybody's list. No candidate is going to pick a mayor that nobody has heard of outside his city to be their running mate.

Spiro Agnew....
Sarah Palin...
Paul Ryan....

Nope. Never seen that happen.

Correct, you haven't, since none of those examples compare.
