The point of the thread is that the mortality rate that we have seen in 3rd world countries is not going to be the same in first world counties because health care institutions are so much better prepared to deal with it. That seems obvious.

But as we have seen our barrier methods leave something still to be desired. The issue is hopefully taken care of with the improved protocols (weeks later, but hey), but the concern is still people coming over, infecting healthcare workers, and straining the system.

The CDC and other State level agencies dropped the ball, plain and simple. They have gotten too comfortable dealing with non emergency situations like anti smoking, anti obesity et al and have forgotten their prime focus, prevention of infectious diseases.
