New study: Many highly educated people mistakenly believe they’re left-wing

Except in areas like:

Agriculture
Geology
Medicine
Architecture
Computers
Nuclear Subs
Nuclear power plants
Energy
Communications
Biology
Physiology
Botany
Aerospace
Engineering
Nanotechnology
Chemistry
Transporation

Except for those few things and a few I haven't thought of, those darn liberal scientists barely contribute, if not at all.

Now lets look at "conservative" contribution:

Churches
Mysticism
The Occult
Hate the gays
Bush
The ruined economy

And all without much of an "education".

That darned, worthless education.

See and that's what I meant by my post. You take Bush, a liberal that props God up and say he is is a conservative... Then you give us a list that you couldn't if your life depended on it prove that obama is any different on these issues. Yes Obama might say he is different but show us where he has changed or passed a law or anything effecting issues on Church, war, immigration, education, bail outs, HC, Hating gays and the ecconomy... You can't. Obama has only done what Bush did only on a whole new level. Why did Bush destroy the ecconomy but Obama does the SAME THING ONLY MORE and he is off the hook despite the ecconomy getting MUCH MUCH worse?

Actually, it was *more* free markets and conservative government (meaning lack of) that brought you the best your first list had to offer... It was Liberals and Necons like Bush,Clinton, Obama and so on that have destroyed and slowed it all down....

Agriculture
Geology
Medicine
Architecture
Computers
Nuclear Subs
Nuclear power plants
Energy
Communications
Biology
Physiology
Botany
Aerospace
Engineering
Nanotechnology
Chemistry
Transporation

That list...

Actually, it was *more* free markets and conservative government (meaning lack of) that brought you the best your first list had to offer...

Wrong - it was "science".

And the economy is worse now than when Obama took office?:cuckoo:

It's possible that you may be a "nut".

Show me where our government as made science progress more than the privet sector has. And yes, the economy is worse now as we are deeper in debt and things are still going down...

But you seem to be a hack so, whatever =D. You will lose in then end so I really don't care.

The report was put together by Dr James Rockey, a lecturer in Economics.

A lecturer in Economics, which obviously makes him an "expert" on "scientists".

The truth is, considering what it means to be a conservative, it's very unlikely that more than a very few conservatives would be much of a scientist.

I think it just shows how much education is really worth, next to nothing. All it really does is confuse you about what you really believe, and you want to self identify as liberal, when the truth is you are not. Myabe this explains why only 6% of scientists say they are Republicans, they were the only ones who were able to overcome the brainwashing.

Except in areas like:

Agriculture
Geology
Medicine
Architecture
Computers
Nuclear Subs
Nuclear power plants

One of these you will develop an actual sense of humor, probably about 1000 years after the zombie apocalypse.

You don't know much history do you?

It was the Soviets putting Sputnik into orbit that spurred the "science" revolution instigated by the government that has brought so much to this country.

Do a little research on the "space program" and find out what it has brought to the US. Practically everything in industry came from the US Space Program in some way, shape or form.

Industry may have polished it, made it commercial, but whether it's computers, alloys, aerospace, medicine, satellites, communication or, well, the list is endless. And believe me, those things do NOT come from conservatives. There is very little they can take credit for when it comes to science. There are two reasons for that:

1. Their religion is threatened by science

2. Science means "forward thinking". The goal of conservatives is to "take us back".

That's just the brutal truth. Sorry if you guys don't like it. But not too sorry.

I do understand that but AFTER our space program the privet sector brought us the reat of the 95% of the way....

BTW, my GF and I are not religious but we are both conservative. We both started out as Liberals and then we realized not hating on blacks, gays and blah blah blah has nothing to do with what it means to be conservative... As you seem to have no clue what it means.

You seem to only know what a neoconservative is, nothing more.

NASA was started by a Republican, and has been a Republican staple since its inception. Obama is doing his best to kill it off, and doesn't want to go back to the moon. Do you know why he doesn't want to go back to the moon?

Now, I understand that some believe that we should attempt a return to the surface of the Moon first, as previously planned. But I just have to say pretty bluntly here: We’ve been there before. Buzz has been there. There’s a lot more of space to explore, and a lot more to learn when we do. So I believe it’s more important to ramp up our capabilities to reach -- and operate at -- a series of increasingly demanding targets, while advancing our technological capabilities with each step forward. And that’s what this strategy does. And that’s how we will ensure that our leadership in space is even stronger in this new century than it was in the last.

NASA - President Barack Obama on Space Exploration in the 21st Century

Because he actually knows less about science than you do.

NASA has done a lot, but it is no where near as influential as you are implying. It has contributed to a lot of technical advances, but I can point to more that it had nothing to do with, and I support NASA 100%, unlike Obama.

1. Liberals think that things happen by magic, and all we have to do is hope, and we will eventually get there. That only works for liberals, the rest of the world needs more.

2. NASA has always been overwhelmingly supported by conservatives in Congress because it gives us political and technical advantage over the rest of the world. Liberals don't like this, and think we should apologize for our superior technology. Obama even thinks that the main goal of should be to reach out to Muslims, not advance science and knowledge.

You repeatedly ignore facts that are inconvenient to your worldview, and you claim conservatives are narrow minded bigots. YOur liberal group think professor must be extremely proud of you.

Anytime you'd like to start speaking from facts instead of self-congratulatory leftist bullshit stereotypes, that'd be great.

Becoming conservative is a sign of maturity.

Exactly If you have not become more conservative once you are 40ish. You are not paying attention at all.

Believe it or not when I was in my 20's I was a radical Liberal. I thought we should nuke Israel, I hated Reagan. The funny thing is I didn't have good reasons, I just thought I should.

Sound familiar.

As I grew up and actually learned about issues before having an opinion, I naturally moved to the right.

i'm not 40 yet, but shit's gone the opposite way for me. i think it is more an indication of how conservatism has changed than how you have. the modern conservative base hates the reaganites, too. even if they idolize the man, the politicos and their gallery have contradicted his policy for 15 years.

how old were you 15 years ago?

I only support the left on some issues, such as the environment, public transport and science, and voted for the Green Party here, thus for years I believed that I was center left. Then I finished high school, realized socialism never works, that most Muslims (save the Secular ones) aren't peaceful and would like to gut me. Plus I was introduced to reality such as Israel isn't some evil car salesmen out to steal my money and cook me up in a stew as leftists made me believe.

What is not "facts". Why do Republicans insist that they are "pro" science when they insist on replacing science with "mysticism" or teaching "alternate" science based on the occult.

Right wing universities only teach a single course in evolution so they can maintain accreditation.

Like the "man behind the curtain", the right becomes outraged when their failed and backward thinking ideology is exposed for the sham it is.

You don't see many or more than a very few conservatives involved in science because science is about thought, data, understanding, invention, and "new". These are not areas of expertise for the right. You know it. I know it. Why deny it?

The right is about "safe" and safe means a return to the past. It means "stop". It means "no more thinking".

You just had 8 years of a truly conservative administration where several of those years, Republicans controlled both houses. And they can't name a single success. Not one. 8 years of terrible failure.

They were able to cut taxes on the rich. Move businesses overseas in search of cheaper labor. Nationbuild. And what worked out? What was not a disaster?

Yes, the neocons that thought that Government could fix the economy with bail outs, stimulus and HC expansion... The same neocons that took us into a BS "war"... JUST LIKE THE LIBERALS (elected) THAT EXPANDED THE WAR AND ALLLLL THE BAIL OUTS, STIMULUS PROGRAMS AND HC...

When you wake up and see that Bush and friends ran the county just like Obama and friends ARE running the country you will reconize that Bush was not a conservative. Give me a list of "conservative" things Bush did while in office... Common, go ahead and make a fool of yourself...

And as someone said, Republicans helped start NASA, your BIG argument was that liberals bring us science and pointed to NASA and being the mecca of the birth of American science and OPS, it was brought forth by a Republican...

Of couse like I said it was only the start of something big in science... Most the rest of progress was pushed by privet groups... Shit I'd bet NASA depended on the privet sector to do most of the stuff for them, they just helped bring it all under one banner, NASA.

Those are not facts. They are instead "facts". They are based on your bigoted stereotypes.

And it's funny how you say such things as if they're true, then castigate the right for not thinking.

Why do you think any political party is pro science when the evidence contradicts you? Remember the SSC? That was killed by a Democrat congress under a Democrat presedent, but I am sure it was Bush's fault somehow.
