Ice shelves come and go. You need to think like a geologist more and a political hack less.
The last time there was major retreat the shelves were gone for 1500 years....geologic time my friend...the Earth doesn't view time like we do. we are here for an instant and then gone. The Earth does things so slow that most people havn't a clue. Geologists like myself have a real hard time figuring out what day it is (just ask my wife!) but I can comprehend geologic time well...I just wish I could stay around long enough to experience it in the flesh.
