On Gitmo. Man I hate Durbin. He is such a fool, as well as a hack.

Durbin Supports the Troops
Sen. Dick Durbin, an Illinois Democrat, took the Senate floor yesterday and likened American servicemen to Nazis (link in PDF):

When you read some of the graphic descriptions of what has occurred here [at Guantanamo Bay]--I almost hesitate to put them in the [Congressional] Record, and yet they have to be added to this debate. Let me read to you what one FBI agent saw. And I quote from his report:

On a couple of occasions, I entered interview rooms to find a detainee chained hand and foot in a fetal position to the floor, with no chair, food or water. Most times they urinated or defecated on themselves, and had been left there for 18-24 hours or more. On one occasion, the air conditioning had been turned down so far and the temperature was so cold in the room, that the barefooted detainee was shaking with cold. . . . On another occasion, the [air conditioner] had been turned off, making the temperature in the unventilated room well over 100 degrees. The detainee was almost unconscious on the floor, with a pile of hair next to him. He had apparently been literally pulling his hair out throughout the night. On another occasion, not only was the temperature unbearably hot, but extremely loud rap music was being played in the room, and had been since the day before, with the detainee chained hand and foot in the fetal position on the tile floor.
If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime--Pol Pot or others--that had no concern for human beings. Sadly, that is not the case. This was the action of Americans in the treatment of their prisoners.

We are fighting an enemy that murdered 3,000 innocent people on American soil 3 1/2 years ago and would murder millions more if given the chance--and according to Dick Durbin, our soldiers are the Nazis.

no.

if this was being done by nazis you would be burned alive in an oven or operated on without anesthesia

if this was being done in russian gulags you would be chained to a chair with a solider crushing your testicles with jack boots

if this was being done by the khamer rouge you would have been disemboweled and tossed into a field

if this was being done by the japanese in WWII you would be marching 100 miles through the jungle without food or shoes building a railroad

if this was being done by the VC they would have you in a cage in the swamp

if this was being done by the iraqi freedom fighters you would be video taped begging then have you head cut off

but this is being done by the US which means in 24 - 48 hours you will be cleaned up, showered, fed, and given a prayer rug and a koran.

we are such pussies no wonder they fuck with us

Our soldiers are packing in 130 degree weather in Iraq. Too f'ing bad for the murdering fascist mongrel in Gitmo who has to lay there in a cool 100 degrees.

Too bad the murdering bastard is tied up.

Too bad he has to listen to RAP music.

Too bad nobody wants to kiss his Koran.

Too bad Senator Dumbrain doesn't know the difference between Gitmo and Gulags. Or the difference between Gitmo and sawing heads off while chanting Ali Akbar or hanging mutilated bodies from a bridge or blowing up skyscrapers filled with innocent people.

The people of Illinois need to let Mr. Democrat Dumbrain know he needs to get a new job. Maybe he could apply for one somewhere in Syria. Un-American Senators like Dumbrain need to be run out of town on a rail!

Makes me wonder what this guy was like as a kid. Probably some pussywillow weenie that got picked on.

Illinois Senator losing his mind?

Senator Dick Durbin’s remarks from the Senate floor last night will lead one to conclude that the man is crazy. Durbin was on the floor to debate a portion of the Energy Bill and then went off on this tangent about prisoner abuse at Gitmo:

On one occasion, the air conditioning had been turned down so far and the temperature was so cold in the room, that the barefooted detainee was shaking with cold. ..... On another occasion, the [air conditioner] had been turned off, making the temperature in the unventilated room well over 100 degrees. The detainee was almost unconscious on the floor, with a pile of hair next to him. He had apparently been literally pulling his hair out throughout the night. Are you pulling your hair out yet? Durbin has gone beyond the gulag charge to now say our men and women in the military are engaged in treatment of prisoners on par with Nazi death camps and the murdering regime of Pol Pot. What is Durbin on? Anyone?

Michael Savage was fuming. I thought he would bust a vein. This guy needs to be brought up on charges by the ADL for trivializing the holocaust, gulags, and the atrocities of Pol Pat.

Something needs to be done.

CHICAGO Illinois Senator Dick Durbin says he won't apologize for comments comparing American interrogators at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to Nazis and Soviet gulags.

News of the Democrat's comparison created a buzz around the Internet today, fueled by sound bites of yesterday's Senate floor speech on radio talk shows. By this afternoon, Illinois Republican Party Chairman Andy McKenna asked Durbin to apologize.

Durbin says the Bush administration should apologize for abandoning the Geneva Conventions.

Human-rights activist groups and some lawmakers -- mostly Democrats -- want Bush to close the prison.

But administration officials say some of the people who have been detained at Guantanamo later return to fight against the United States.

the enemy during wartime. I believe they call that TREASON!! The worthless liberal dipshit should be charged with treason, tried, and executed.

Durbin is your Senator? Damn, I'm sorry...
Thank you. I needed that. Our governor is a whacko. Mayor of Chicago is having major problems. I live in probably one of the most Republican counties in the country, yet corruption is rampant here too. What is it with Illinois?

I don't know. My mother escaped that place long ago. Illinois is an odd bit of land. The southern parts are often racists, the northern parts are too danged liberal, and all of them tend to run toward the corrupt. I visit my Aunts that still live there and am often amazed by what I see. They live in Rockford....

I would like Chicago, if anybody I would ever vote for would get in office....

Actually that is what is so difficult. There probably isn't a prettier, cleaner, or friendlier city than Chicago, nor as corrupt.

Interesting, yesterday the Tribune had a page 4 couple paragraphs on the Durbin reading. This morning it was all over the front page.

Now a Boston paper says what any reasonable person should, "Durbin must go."

`Nazi' comment disgraceful
By Boston Herald editorial staff
Friday, June 17, 2005

The second highest ranking Democrat in the Senate has compared American servicemen and women to Nazis on the floor of that body. Has political debate sunk so low that a comment that hideous can be made by Sen. Richard Durbin (D-Ill.) without repercussions?

Sen. Trent Lott (R-Miss.) lost his leadership position for the lesser if still odious offense of praising Strom Thurmond's presidential campaign which had taken place decades earlier.

``If I read this ... and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime - Pol Pot or others,'' Durbin said of Guantanamo ``abuses'' like ratcheting up the air conditioning in detainees' cells.

When Amnesty International makes such comparisons it irreversibly damages its credibility. When a U.S. senator does so, he damages the institution and the country he serves.

Durbin must go.
