Ontario education official says teachers are ‘co-parents’

WATERLOO, Ontario, March 2, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The recent case where the father of a pre-kindergarten student was arrested, strip searched and told he was being charged with illegal possession of a firearm because his daughter had drawn a picture of a gun, was perfectly acceptable because educators are “co-parents,” a school official in Waterloo told an interviewer from Sun News.

Gregg Bereznick, Superintendent of Education at Waterloo Region District School Board, said, in answer to interviewer Kris Sims’ question whether he was personally satisfied or upset with what happened, “we do work hand in hand with these families because we co-parent …”

On being asked to explain the term “co-parent,” Bereznick said, “by co-parent I’m talking about teachers and parents working together to support children as they grow up. And so those relationships are important to us, and we value them.

But we also understand that within that context, it may be required for us to bring forward a disclosure because it is our legal requirement to do so.

You nutters are hysterical. In every sense of the word.

I've got a Board of Education primo dude saying straight out that he thinks that teachers are co parents and you have the freaking nerve to call any one of us a nutter.

You moron.

I'm not seeing any context for this outburst. Did you mean to post this in a different thread?

No one in this thread is talking about any comments by a Board of Education "dude".

I read more than one thread at a time.

You moron.

Of course I do. Especially you. You are especially nutty. Nobody wants your children. I don't know who the person you are talking about is....but he or she probably plays a significant role in the rearing of certain children educated in those schools.

Ask yourself this question.....weirdo. If you sent your kid to school Monday and you were run over by a bus, would you expect the teachers in that school to care for and direct the actions of your child in your absence?

Of course you would.

Now stop being a fucking loon.

Oh and if you don't like the link I can give you CBC and CTV oh and the Toronto Star and the Globe and Mail.

You're not getting it. Your pedantic little game breaking the soundbite down doesn't change anything.

Nothing about her comments implies that the government "owns" your kids. Nothing about her comments implies that any parental rights or responsibilities should be taken away.

Everything in that short little ad is meant to convey as much information as possible in a short amount of time, that is what ADS are for.

Each phrase breathes life into fascinating arguments, as it is meant to do. You're supposed to "Lean Forward" into the debate. It is MSNBC's goal to persuade you to believe their argument, which are summed up quite well in that ad.

They don't run those ads for shits and giggles.

They run those ads to get people to watch their shows, not to "persuade" anyone of anything. The sinister conspiracy stuff is all in your head.

This is how much sense you make:

As do we all, I'm sure.

I'm not sure how a year-old article about a local school district is relevant to Melissa Perry's comments in the MSNBC ad though - or how not responding to an article that you hadn't linked yet would make LL a "moron".

Slaves don't own their children, nor have responsibility for them. That's the function of the master.

:lmao:

My eldest Tanya is a teacher. :eusa_angel: I'm just the wild child. Every one else is an academic for most of my family.

I only went to Ryerson for Journalism.
She's a graduate from McMaster. Shall we continue to chat? My Aunt at McMaster was head nurse of teaching. You want me to keep going. My Uncle Ted; McGill...seriously you want me to keep going?

I can lay out my whole family. Can you?

Why should I care about any of that? You make no sense. What is the official diagnosis?

I can't do anything about the fact that you're not understanding what I'm saying.

Let's start over.

Tell me exactly why I should be outraged at the video.

Your community has taken responsibility for your kids. We provide a free education, a safe environment, health services, sports, recreation

Every community values it's children, they are our future

Why are conservatives outraged?
Liar.

Also, where do you get free from?

Apparently, you shouldn't.

What you are saying is insane.

When you have kids, since they don't belong to you, I'll just take them and sell them out for sex to make a tidy little profit.

After all, they're just offspring who don't matter to you.

They don't matter. That is your attitude. thats what the fuck I'm talking about.

So what if someone wants to exploit them. Who the fuck are you to get in the way of that? If it doesn't harm the community and the community can make a buck off the children, why then the parents shouldn't have a say in how they are raised, should they? After all, your children aren't your property so we should be able to use them as we wish.

I think that your children, when you do have them, will do well as war fodder to expand the State.

You should be good with that.

If you do not understand now, then you probably never will.

First, there is no free education, and never has been. The taxpayers pay for public schools, and they pay way too much for what they get back.

The part you don't want to confront, is the simple fact that there is no community consensus on how to properly raise children. There is only a choice between government or parents deciding on how to raise your children, and only a nitwit socialist wanna-be would prefer turning our children over to the tender mercies of government bureaucrats.

Anytime a dumbass liberal mentions the word community, they mean government, but they don't the balls to really say so.
