I feel bad for the circumstances. The reason we got rid of the filibuster (where you had to stand and talk for hours and hours) was because we didn't want 80 y/o men or women (now) falling dead on the Senate floor. Both major parties came to a consensus that it wasn't good for anyone to see that. It would behoove the least jaded congresscritters to come up with a rule .

Taking all the effort and commitment out of the filibuster was a terrible mistake.

Beshear is probably going to win re-election. Mitch die in office as a Republican, rather than see his seat given to a democrat before the next Senatorial Election in Kentucky. The Republicans passed a law that would force replacing a Senator with someone from same party, but no way it would get past the Ky Supreme Court, as Kentucky's constitution cannot be changed with just the passing of a law by the Republicans.

No. Not set in stone, but do not be surprised if they keep Beshear. If Cameron does win, I suspect Mitch might call it a day. If Cameron loses, I hope Mitch makes it to the end of his term. Partisan politics isn't worth dying for, or sacrificing an aging Senator with failing health.

I would agree. I've not been any fan of McConnell for a good 25 years but I would not want to see any Democrat appointed to his seat if possible.

I would rather see than than to see Mitch McConnell die of a brain bleed going up the step to the Capital or right there on the Senate floor. I don't particularly like Moscow Mitch either, but I wouldn't want to see him kill himself for being one more voting Republican seat.
