Mississippi & Louisiana Join Refusal to Honor Same Sex "Marriage"

Serious question:
What recourse would anyone have if states chose to ignore the ruling?

(not saying that they should)

The first step would probably be for the person being discriminated against to file a suit in Federal court requesting a "writ of mandamus". That is a court order from a superior court to a lower court or government official requiring them to perform their official duties. Failure to comply with the writ then opens the offending person to federal contempt of court charges.

Failure to comply with the writ then opens the offending person to federal contempt of court charges.

And so then as in Texas, lawyers would accompany them in appeals based on their 1st Amendment rights, which the 9th Amendment tells us cannot be squelched by newly created and added classes by the judicial branch to the Constitution. (which is forbidden for them to do according to the separation of powers). Then from there, the Court would have to either dictate to the Vatican and other church leaders that they have to tell their followers to ignore the warnings in Jude 1 of the New Testament (the one that Christians follow) that they will experience eternal soul-death if they enable the spread of homosexual culture. Or they would have to uphold that individual Christians may opt out of all phases, without penalty to themselves or their employment, of so-called "gay marriage".

From there, voters could launch lawsuits alleging it's unfair that Christians get to choose about gay marriage when they didn't. Which is a suppression of voters' civil right to have their vote count.

And so...enter the legal quagmire...

It could be simply addressed by Congress voting to annul last Friday's Ruling on the grounds that it is de facto legislating (creation of a new class...that only some can enjoy "behaviors as race"...just the court's favorites but not polygamy or incest..) from the judicial. That entire rat's nest that is, in fact, coming back to SCOTUS quite rapidly, can be avoided.

I don't know if it's the pain meds but that made my brain hurt.......

Happy, happy attorneys. It's all billable hours, that the states will be paying for. Happy days...
It really is isn't it? The next revolutionary war is just around the corner.

You love it, don't you?

Yea a bunch of half dead crackers in jesusland are going to fight with their walkers and canes waving their bibles angrily in the air , What a revolution!!!!!

I hope more states join in. the supreme court can not make up a LAW that overrides a STATES RIGHTS. the sooner people understand this the better the LET DOWN WILL be for them
bitch please,

Due to the Supremacy Clause in the United States Constitution, federal law overrides state law in most cases.

According to the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, preemption means that some issues are so important to the nation's well-being that the federal law should and must override state laws. For instance, during desegregation in the South, many states tried to pass laws to halt its progress. The Supreme Court ruled that such laws were unconstitutional in Cooper vs. Aaron. This court case basically established the precedent that any such law a state tries to pass to nullify a federal law is not constitutional.

Sil, one word: no. No, it won't work. Nothing you have said would happen has happened. Never will.

This is over.

the people in a state should be hounding their state Representatives to FOLLOW these states lead. fight fire with fire. this supreme court just took away YOUR SAY on this and overstepped YOUR state rights. you need to wake up

I don't care who marries who or if they want to marry a goat. this is about the Supreme court taking away your states rights and your rights in a state

Headline in Austin: Jewish utility workers refuse to allow electricity and water to reach Christian churches, citing their religious beliefs.

Hindus at nationwide DMV's refuse to renew driver's licenses for Christians, cite religious beliefs.

This slippery slope is real kristians. You are in the process of turning yourselves into a minority.

The slippery slope is a fallacy.
that should read: everything the faux rabbi posts is a fallacy or a fabrication OF A FLALLACY.

you act as if the ruling has had a detrimental effect on your mental illness.
fact is, you are just as psychotic and bigoted as before. it'll just be a lot harder to use the appeal to the masses fallacy.

I think all of his posts are simply flatulence caused by fallacies..

States can and should forego appeals to any federal court with regards to any and all socio-economic legal issues. Ignore them as the irrelevant and illegal entities that they have become.

Why don't you bring that up next time you sit down with every governor of every state. I'm sure they will take your advice. After all, you are almost the smartest person in your trailer park

I'm pretty sure the lawsuits about the cult of LGBT vs Christians are going to go to the Supreme Court. Eradicating the 1st Amendment is a big deal.

Since this is entirely your fantasy- as usual- it is nothing more than the voices in your head.

Right- the Supreme Court just took away your right to deny a same gender couple a marriage license.

Oh wait- you never had that right.......

Your rights are the same today as they were on Thursday.

Read Jude 1. Christians who follow the New Testament not only have that right, they are compelled to exercise it or face soul-death for eternity.

Your little Ruling last Friday is asking Christians to either completely and stubbornly stand their ground against your cult's inroads into the center of our culture (marriage) or you're asking them to sell their eternal soul for the price of a marriage license, a cake or a bouquet of flowers.

And at the state level, voters have ALWAYS until Friday June 26, 2015, had the right to regulate behaviors locally. Again, we are talking about behaviors which are not static vs race which IS static. There is a legal universe between the two..

The Constitution rules and not the Bible.

Your interp of the Bible is wrong. Sil, you lost. Get over it. It's done.
