Political observers pointed out that one of the things Mr Trump has undertaken to push forward with, is to reverse a planned pay boost enacted by President Barack Obama.

Part of the regulation - that is due to go into effect on December 1 - demands that companies pay time-and-a-half overtime to workers who make less than $47,000 a year.

If one is an hourly paid worker and is asked to work overtime, then the pay is time and a half correct? This law only applies to salaried workers? Then it makes more sense. We all agree 47 grand isn't much in the end but if one settles for something that low then I guess their skill set holds them back from decent pay.

most US companies have policies that pay 1 1/2 times for work over 40 hours and 2 times for working on a company holiday
